"You don't have to explain it to me, I understand," The brunette said walking across the street, head held high.

"No you don't," The man replied walking in step with the women.

"You're upset because mommy doesn't recognize her little boy," She stated. He started to speak but was cut off, "that wasn't a question. You forget who you are speaking with; I know you as well as you know yourself; if not better."

"Is that true?" He asked a charming smile coming to his handsome features.

"Yes." The woman answered matter of factly.

"Fine then how do I get mommy to notice me," He asked in a true need of assistance. The women finally stopped facing her companion.

"You use the mark." She answered before resuming her journey. "First you must see her mark. If she is absent of one you must understand you have built this theory on false hope." He nodded though she could not see him through her sunglasses. "Second you make sure she finds your mark. After this she will see who you really are and happily ever afters all around." At her last statement she threw her head back in a laugh.

"When did you become a cynic, Ker?" He called out her nick name in an almost desperate state, to see if she truly still resided in this body in front of him. He saw her blink under the tint of the sunglasses before sliding them to the tip of her nose, so only he could get a glimpse of the precious emeralds that lay there.

"I am not a cynic. Alex Hunter is the cynic. I play my character well, that does not mean it leaves room for you to criticize," She answered before sliding the glasses back up her nose to conceal the now brown orbs.

"Do I not play my character as well?" He question in a light way. She laughed.

"No. You do not play a character. You have changed little from the Matt you were with me. Of course the Matthew Cromwell the rest of the world knew is quite different from the man in front of me." She answered his questioning look after her laugh.

"So you would know exactly who I was if you saw me?" He asked a smirk threatening to take over his lips as he awaited his answer.

"If you were a few years younger," She answered sliding her hand gently down his cheek. She held i

t there unmoving. The pair stood looking as a piece of artwork lovers would look at and hope to look that well. But these two were not lovers, not anymore.

"I need to go, Caffery," Alex stated removing her hand all thoughts of their past identities gone as quick as the mind.

"Good bye Alex," Neal replied tipping his hat before walking off.

"Bye Neal," Alex said turning on her heels in the opposite direction. They we're playing characters and these characters did not have a scene, not yet.
