Katie Bell walked up the moving staircase's many steps and continued her journey from the Great Hall to the Gryffindor common room. It took her a few moments to gather her bearings, seeing as she hadn't been subjected to the moving staircases' confusion for weeks, as she recovered from a curse in St. Mungo's. Having been given many antidotes in the hospital, she was no longer aching and writhing in the pain that the curse had put her through.

She began to grow tired of travelling up the steps, and felt as though she could collapse on the staircase and stay there until morning. She was ever so tired, and as she looked out a glass pane in the wall across the staircase from her, she calmed as she followed large flakes of snow falling down from the heavens with her eyes. She grew sleepy, then shook her head and continued up the stairs.

When she had finally reached the Gryffindor tower, a good ten minutes of climbing later, she realized she didn't have the password to get by the Fat Lady. Would she have to wait until someone passed by and told her the password, or could she bear to trek across the moving staircases and find a teacher to bother about her predicament? She finally decided against both ideas, and simply conjured a patronus charm to enter through the Fat Lady's sleeping portrait and wake up a member of the house. From her wand, came a spiraling shape of light in the form of a tiger. She sent it into the common room, and waited for its return. Along with the patronus she sent a message to be said by it, stating she needed to get into the dormitories so she could get a glimpse of sleep before waking to a load of classes to get to in the early morning.

Katie waited a few moments, and then finally the Fat Lady's portrait opened with a squeak. From the other side of the painting came out a Weasley. She could tell it was a Weasley, because of the fiery red hair atop a freckled face. It was Fred. Katie was ever so happy to see him. She was happy because not only was she able to get inside Gryffindor tower now, but her favorite Weasley appeared to help her. Her eyes watered with the threat of tears and she launched herself forward to hug Fred before he could even shut the portrait.

"Katie!" Fred exclaimed, his voice slightly muffled by Katie's hair as she hugged him tightly.

"Fred, I missed you so much!" Katie replied, her voice trembling from her happiness.

"How are you?" Fred asked her, when she left Hogwarts for St. Mungo's, he was so concerned for her safety. He cared for her, immensely. Seeing her now, it was a beautiful sight.

"I'm better. Much better." She said happily, grinning into Fred's shirt as she held onto him.

"I'm, glad. How was St. Mungo's?" Fred asked.

"It wasn't that much fun… Did I wake you up?" Katie asked sheepishly, hoping she hadn't interrupted his sleep. It was after all, late in the night when she arrived in the Great Hall by means of floo powder.

"No, don't worry, I was up with George coming up with some new ideas for Weasley Wizard Wheezes." They ended their hug and turned to face the Fat Lady.

Fred said the password, "Nargles" and with that they entered Gryffindor Tower, hand in hand.
