Today started off normal. You know wake up, take a shower, eat breakfast, and start your day. Except it was the first day of college. Oh, my name is Dominic DaSilva. I'm majoring in musical production, visual arts, and technology.
I had gotten settled in my dorm. I was surprised that I got a room to myself since usually freshman is paired with a roommate. I was also surprised I got accepted to this school since my grades weren't the best in my Freshman and Sophomore years if high school. "So this is where the dream begins, huh," I said looking at the classroom door. This was where my dream career would begin. I walked inside and was surprised. There were a few other people talking to each other and a girl who seemed oddly familiar by herself in the back.
I overheard the others talking about the Valhalla highschool national tournament. The tournament was for the best of the best people, who also had unique powers, skills, and physique. Also, know as the evolved human species, Valhallans. Rumor has it that the first of these people was born 130 years ago, after the mutation meteor of 2088. Now about 27% of the Human population is made of this evolved species.
Suddenly everything clicked. That girl in the back was none other than the champion Ada! She was known for her lightning-fast reflexes, inhuman accuracy, skill with a spear, and great looks. I remember being absolutely jealous of people like her. They were just superior in every way. I feared them too. Ever since I was bullied back in middle school by two boys of the species. One of which was in the tournament and was knocked out in the first round by Ada, coincidentally. She dominated the competition. Second place was a guy who bullied me in high school named Xull. In short, she had loads of talent and a future in this new sport known as brawlhalla.
Soon after the class started. The professor called out attendance, soon after he started the lesson. We took notes and started making beats on our computer. This class was a classical lesson. With about fifteen minutes left of class, he called my name. "Yes, sir?" I responded. He motioned me to come to him. I got up and walked over to him.
"Listen, Mr. DaSilva, I'm assigning a group project," he said.
Okay, shoot. I'm an extreme introvert. I can't pick a partner. "Okay sir, what of it?" I asked, just acting confused.
"Well for almost everyone else seems to have found their partner and two I need to ask you a favor" he explained. He seemed almost, scared to ask.
"Sure, whatever you need." Please say work alone, please, please, please.
"I would like to ask you to work with Ada. I mean everyone else seems to be set on discriminating her behind her back, from fear of course. Also being racist, from that fear except you. Besides both of you need to work with a partner anyway or you'll get an automatic zero." he explained, with a slightly nervous chuckle.
My heart grew cold. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I hate the girl, or even feel an ounce of discrimination towards her. I just fear her because of my past. What if she automatically hates me? What if she wants to bully me? "Sure thing sir," I responded. WHAT AM I THINKING!
"Great!" he basically shouted.
With that I walked to my desk and grabbed my stuff, then I moved to the desk next to Ada's. "Hey, uh miss" I greeted.
"Save it" she responded, putting up her hand and taking out her headphones. "I don't talk to shitheads. Or racist"
That hurt, not the shithead part, but the racist part. I'd hate myself if I were racist, I wouldn't know how to live knowing if I was racist. "Sorry," I mumbled loud enough only for her to hear. "Did I do something wrong?"
"Yes you most likely did," she said. "You approached me while I was working. You most likely talked shit about me too! Just like everyone else in this class!"
"That's not the case at all. I never talked shit about you! Though you probably won't believe it I'm not like that. I'm sorry to have interrupted you while you were working but I had to talk to you about something. Abou..." Before I could finish the teacher spoke up.
"Alright class, may I have your attention! Please. Thank you. Alright, so first things first. We are doing a group project due the day after tomorrow since you won't be here tomorrow! You will be in groups of two. You'll have to make music, where you will have lyrics. That means both you and your partner. I know classical isn't everyone's style so you can make whatever beat you want! The more creative the better! Good luck and find your partners now!" As soon as he finished everyone talked to each other and groups were quickly made.
"That's what I needed to talk to you about," I said. She scoffed. "Listen I know you don't like me but we both care about this grade. We need to work together so we don't get a zero."
"I never said I didn't like ya. I just know you don't like me. Although you're right about the grade." she explained putting her stuff in her bag.
"I never said I didn't like you either. In fact, you seem like a great person once someone gets to know you." I quickly responded.
"Whatever kid, let's just exchange numbers so we can get this over with," she said annoyed. Damn, I guess I'm that bad huh?
"Alright," I said taking out my phone and getting to the contacts. We read each other's phone numbers. I took a quick glance at what she put me as it read 'Kid'. I simply put her as her name.
With that, the bell rung and I headed to my next class.
Alright, this was fun. In case it wasn't obvious Ada is my main in Brawlhalla. I also love this character in general. Anyway, I'll be making another chapter soon, although I doubt anyone except me will be reading this. Also side not I'm in high school so I know nothing about college so if this is off then sorry.
