(Just a little something I had floating around my head the other night... I own nothing of JKR but love the world she's let us play in)
The sound of screaming rent the air as Harry marched deliberately toward Tom Riddle. To Harry he would always be Tom the boy from the diary who was so unloved as Harry himself had been. Sending a silent prayer to whatever higher powers that might be listening he confronted the person who'd done so much to destroy the world he loved.
Tom said not a word, no word needed to be said between him and what he could have been, he only knew he needed to end this and be done with it in a show of strength that would forever cement him as a leader belonging to the greatest of the founders families.
Harry walked calmly into Tom's personal space and suddenly before him was a giant basilisk. He blinked once, and then twice, and smiled; so this was why he had been having dreams of animagus training of late. He wasn't too worried because he knew as a parselmouth the gaze of the king of serpents couldn't harm him.
The basilisk stared down at his nemesis and wondered while he was smiling.
Everyone around the rivals stopped their fighting and turned careful not to look the basilisk in the eyes, instead they stared at Harry wondering why he was standing there. Suddenly he began to shrink and in the blink of an eye instead of Harry there was a cockerel.
With a jubilant crow that onlookers later said brought on the morn of enlightenment ... He Who Must Not Be Named, was no more.
