Walker, Texas Ranger: The New Year's Resolution

"So what are you doing for new year's Gage?" Sydney asked as her and Gage were hanging up their coats to leave the station, the day before new year's.

"Staying home. Watch the ball drop on TV." Gage said. "Make new resolutions."

"Did you complete the old ones?" Sydney asked.

"Well, yeah, all but one." Gage said. "And I might still have time for the last one."

"Oh really?" Sydney was interested, "What was it?"

"I am not telling you that!" Gage said smiling.

Sydney gasped and said, "Oh now you have to tell me."

"No!" Gage said.

After a moment Sydney said, "Hey did you hear the news about Alex?"

"No," Gage answered, "What?"

"Her and Walker are going to have a baby." Gage stopped and turned to face Sydney, as did she.

"Oh really?!" Gage asked.

"Yep." Sydney said.

Gage smiled really bright and said, "That's great. That's just wonderful for them." Then he got a grin that showed that he was planning something sly. He said, "In fact, I am so happy for them that I am going to do this."

"Do what?" Sydney asked, having no idea what he was going to do.

Then, unexpectedly, Gage put his hand behind Sydney's head, pulled her close, and kissed her. The most passionate and over-all best kiss of her life. And Gage noticed that she definitely kissed back.

When Gage pulled away, he turned around and starting walking away again like nothing happened.

At first Sydney didn't know what to say or even think. Then she caught up with him the couple yards he walked away and she said, "Hey wait!"

"What?" He asked.

"Wh-I-uh-why did you kiss me?!" Sydney blurted out all at once.

Gage shrugged like nothing as he said, "I was happy." He grinned too.

"Happy?!" Sydney said, not believing it, "You don't kiss a person like that just because you're happy!"

Gage turned to face her, now really interested in what she was saying, "Oh really? Then why do you kiss a person?"

"Because you love them." Sydney said, not thinking about what she was really saying.

"Oh," Gage was smiling inside and out because he knew what to say and the fact that she couldn't object, "So, the reason you kissed me is because you love me. Now I get it."

Sydney gasped and said, "But-I-uh-wa-hey!!" She was getting annoyed.

"You said it yourself Syd." Gage grinned.

"But you kissed me so that means you love me too!" Syd answered.

"Oh, 'too' huh? So you admit you love me?" Gage asked.

Syd covered her mouth. She had slipped again, "You know what I meant!"

"Yes I knew what you meant." Gage said, "You meant that you love me and I love you back."

"So you admit you love me back!" Syd said, thinking she had Gage's cornered.

"I never said I didn't." Gage whispered back.

They just looked at each other for a minute. Square in the eyes.

Then, all within a minute, Sydney put her arms around his neck and they kissed, a long and passionate kiss.

So-uh-considering how long they stood there in the middle of the parking lot kissing, they both must have been really happy.
