Disclaimer: I don't own Castle, ABC does.

Kate Beckett sat at her desk, filling out paperwork. They had just finished the fifteen year old murder case, and she was waiting for Castle to come pick her up.

During the case, she started to notice something. Okay. She noticed this before, but this time, she couldn't help but notice it. For one thing, Castle and Alexis had so much history that she would never know. Also, it felt like Alexis didn't like her. She knew that they had an okay relationship before she got shot, but after that Alexis didn't seem to like her. She was just going to take Lanie's advice, starting by having a "girl talk" with Alexis sometime.

"Hello," a voice made her jump, even though she knew it was just Castle. "Hey," he said.

"What's up?"

"Um, Alexis is in the break room. She was wondering if she could talk to you." We'll, Beckett thought, that makes one thing a lot easier.

"Sure. Yeah," she replied," I've been wanting to talk to her for a while." She got up.

She walked into the break room, closed the door, and saw the red head standing the corner. "Hi, Detective Beckett."

"Call me Kate," Beckett said, smiling,"your dad said you wanted to talk to me."

"Yeah," Alexis muttered,"sit down." Once Beckett did so, she continued,"I just wanted to say thanks. It was really nice of you to help out. I know that it would have been really easy to just say Frank did it and move on. But you and dad both helped out. So, thanks."

"It's no problem. Your going to be family, sooner or later."

"I know. That's something else I wanted to talk about. I know you guys don't know when your getting married, but it's going to happen sooner or later. And I know so far, I haven't been very supportive."

"Alexis," Beckett said,"you got a boyfriend your dad doesn't like. If that were me, I would have yelled at him until the crake of dawn. It's okay if your having a fight."

"Yeah, but before that... Dad didn't tell me he was going to propose to you. And I'm afraid that you might replace me."

"Alexis, that's silly. Your dad couldn't love or care about anyone as much as he loves and cares about you. That's one of the reason he doesn't like Pi. He's afraid he'll take all of your ambition and make you some sort of hippie."

"I figured that had something to do with it. It's like he thinks I want that. I love Pi because he's different. But that's not what I wanted to talk about. I just wanted to tell you that I'm happy you and dad are getting married. Your more of a mom than Gina or Meredith ever were. And I know you and dad are will work out."

Beckett smiled at the girl. She got up and pulled her into a big bear hug. "Thank you," she whispered into the younger girls ear.
