Gaz P.O.V
With my hands in my pockets and headphones in my ears to ignore my brothers incessant rambling I walked home, if you could even call it a home that is, all it really is, is just me and my idiot brother dib who can't seem to stop a completely incompetent alien from attempting to take over the world, you would think that by now they would be sick of it, it's been nearly three years now, yet Zim and Dib still continue to fight every other day. I'm this close to smashing both their skulls in. There are more important things to deal with than an alien who is too pathetic to actually take over the earth. Feeling someone poking my shoulder. I pulled my headphones out of my ears and turned to look at the source of the poking "Hey Gaz um dad wanted me to give you this today, and um happy birthday. I forgot to say that earlier." Dib told me handing me a small envelope. I looked down at it. It looked old and was browning on the sides. It had to be at least as old as me. Maybe a few years younger than that. I was actually a bit nervous about opening it, which was weird; I mean it is just a letter after all. Deciding against opening it right now I slipped the letter in my pocket "thanks Dib, I guess." I muttered putting my headphones back in my ears and blasting my music all the way back to our house. Looking at the driveway with a little bit of hope. Maybe dad would be back today? Yet his car wasn't in there, which didn't actually shock me much, he usually never is home. It's gotten even worse from when we were little, I think he shows up once maybe twice a year now, and he never stays for long, usually a couple of hours at most.
Dib got the keys and unlocked the door, I pulled out my headphones when I noticed he started talking to me again, "What do you want to eat for dinner tonight Gaz? Pizza? I still have an employee discount at Bloaty's, they forgot to take me off for some reason." He said while walking in the house. "That sounds good; I'll be in my room. Don't fuck with my games" I growled out narrowing my eyes and walking up the stairs and to my room. Closing the door and pulling out the letter from my pockets. Sitting down on my bed I carefully pulled open the envelope and retrieved the sheet of paper inside, unfolding it and reading its contents
"my dear sweet baby girl,
If youre reading this, it is likely that we still haven't come back to get you, and its likely too unsafe for you to be with us. First I have to say me and your father are sorry that we couldn't raise you, But our world is dangerous and you would have gotten very hurt. We would also like to say happy birthday. It is important that you know that you will be going through a change today, there is not much I can say about it. However once this change is through you will be able to come find us. I'm sure you know where, if not you will.
We are sorry we couldn't be there to raise you
