It was a silent night. Too silent in fact.

Quietly, the clock ticked into an early number seven. Silently, the front door of their home was opened by a stranger. It was a man, quite tall, fully-armored, and a sad frown. Looking at everyone present in the room, two young girls and one adult man, he sighed. It was not an easy job for him. It will never be. He took out a big box placated with gold and silver ornaments and a few jewelries on it, and the adult instantly recognized what it was.

Two young girls asked what was inside it, so innocently, not knowing what they would find inside it a few minutes later. The adult told one of the younger girl that it was what was left from her Mother. To the questioning look of said child.

So the adult explained it again, and this time the child understood.

She slowly peeked what was inside the box, before closing it again rather weakly.

Ruby Rose realized that she had just saw her mother's remains brought to her in a grand carcass. Under the falling moonlight soon shrouded with clouds, the knees of this eight year old girl slammed into the ground and clutching in her arms said carcass drenched in tears dropping down from her eyes. Her ears were ringing wildly, numbing her as if stopping her time.

She was too small to hold the carcass, and too weak to ever let it go. The man that brought back her mother's remains couldn't do anything except to wait. This was expected of the poor kid, and even though annoyed the man accepted it and waited. Ruby's father, Taiyang Xiao Long, apologized for the inconvenience. And to that he could only shake his head and said it was fine for her to cry.

Yang Xiao Long, her sister, placed her hands on Ruby's left shoulder. It stopped her tears in a trance, before she continued when Yang roped both arms around her little sister and hugged her. Her long golden hair were slowly mixed with tears, snots, and saliva, but Yang didn't care.

The world felt like it was shrinking before Ruby's small, teary, and reddening silver eyes. Her eyes were getting hotter, but her body felt like it was in flame. In that moment, she knew what it meant to grieve. But at the same time, she knew what it meant to lose something important. Something that she cannot ever see again.

Though it was raining a storm outside. Though her voice echoed through the house inside. It was still a silent night. Too silent in fact. For Ruby Rose.
