Chapter 1:

A Place Called "Home"

or

Where in Kami's Name Am I?

Hokage's Tower

"What is it, Jiraiya?"

Jiraiya stood facing the window adjacent to his desk. The window reflected a serious look on his face.

"Tsunade-hime, I've believe that there needs to be some changes for the good of the entire shinobi world."

A look of concern appeared on Tsunade's face.

"This is unlike him. I knew the position of Hokage would force him to take responsibilities to the next the level. What could be so important now?"

He turned to look at her.

"I came to the realization that I shouldn't always depend on old, traditional ways. I must learn to adapt and try something new. Otherwise change in the status quo won't be in effect. That's why I need your guidance, Tsunade-hime. Hence, your reason for being summoned here." Jiraiya continued.

"Well, tell me. Spit it out!" If Jiraiya needed her guidance for this utmost important task for implementing changes, then she would be glad to support it.

"Very well."

Jiraiya took a few steps to reach his desk, and grabbed what appeared to be a manuscript with some writing on it.

"Here it is." He hold the manuscript near Tsunade's face, and she began reading the large written letters.

"Icha Icha Violence...Part II?" She read each word slowly in confusion. "What is the meaning of the this?!"

Jiraiya's overly, dramatic demeanor quickly diverted to glee. "So what do you think, Tsunade-hime? This is what I've been planning today. It's the next installment for the Icha Icha series! And it's not like the other books I've written. This one's unique. It's a midquel story that occurs between Icha Icha Violence and Innocence. On top of that, it's an introduction to my Icha Icha spin-off series that fulfills the novel's expanded universe. It's also a non canon, crossover story where characters from my previous works get to interact with one another to point of killing over romance, which of course was inspired by that Uchiha kid's rage moment during the preliminaries...Tsunade-hime?"

Somewhere in a Forest

On the grass-filled ground amid the surrounding large trees, laid a dark figure who happened to awoke from the sound of birds passing by.

"Huh?" This was the first thing the black-cloaked Wanderer said, moments after his eyes opened.

As he laid on the ground, he saw a horde of various birds flying across the sky that was in the brink of near dusk.

"Something must've caused them to fly in this direction." He internally concluded. "More importantly, how did I ended up here? How long was I out?"

He got up from the ground, and surveyed the area as he stood upright in one place. He felt a familiar air around his surroundings. No doubt, this is the Land of Fire, and he's closer to home than he thought.

"I must of passed out on my way back to Konoha. But why didn't I remember my trek? I'll find out soon enough. Right now, I must directly inform Kakashi about the Ketsuryugan and it's connection with the Otsutsuki. Intel like this shouldn't be trusted to other convenient methods of sending messages—I need to get going."

Stayed true to the thoughts in his head, the Wanderer Body Flickered away.

Sasuke stood in front of the gates of Konoha, contemplating the place that had been his home for such a long time. That's it, until his betrayal to his village and becoming an S-ranked, international criminal made it unbearable for the former Avenger to continue living there. He never had a permanent home from that moment onwards, hopping from one town to another finding ways to atone himself for people in need (albeit, if the task is too trivial, he's not above ignoring it) and having enemy ninja ambushing him regularly due to his reputation. He only returned sporadically to inform his sensei, now Hokage, information regarding the Chinoike and Otsutsuki clans' relations. And the information that he found was quite unsettling.

However, his plan would have to wait.

"Halt!" one of the Chunin, wearing a bandage over his nose shouted. "Who are you and what business do you have with Konoha?"

Are you kidding me?

"My name is Sasuke Uchiha and I've come to return back to the village." He stated monotonously.

The two Chunin both stared at the Ravenette quizzically.

"Yeah right, and I'm Orochimaru." Izumo sarcastically replied.

"Also, isn't that Uchiha brat supposed to be a kid, not a grown man?" His partner Kotetsu added.

"Where in Kami's name am I? Based on the previous style flaks they're wearing, I may have ended up in the past somehow. And their reactions seem to attest that fact. Plus, ninja are supposed to be above joking while on active duty, so the guards' stating false accusations are out of the question." Sasuke's thought bubble ended shortly as he now focused his attention on what the Chunin had to say next.

"Yeah, go back to where you came from before this gets ugly. Besides, the Uchiha possessed the Sharingan. I bet you don't even have that, faker!" Izumo was starting to get irritated. "Who does this guy think he is, making a mockery out our village, this is uncalled for."

"Oh?" Sasuke smirked. "Then explain this." His Sharingan flared to life.

The Chunin gaped in response.

"This is impossible! There's only three Uchihas in existence after the coup."

"What the hell is going on?!"

Then, Izumo and Kotetsu turned to face to each other and nodded, forming ram, hand seals and looked back at the Uchiha.

"RELEASE!"

Again, are you kidding me?

To both of the guards' disappointment, the Uchiha still remained.

"Satisfied?" Sasuke responded in a bored manner.

"What?! It didn't work!"

"The illusion must be beyond our expertise!"

"No, analyzing the situation is." The Uchiha pointed out.

The duo gritted their teeths in response.

"Come on, Izumo, let's dispel this faker's transformation."

"You heard him. Stand still where you are!"

Sasuke retorted. "You mean what I've been doing this entire time?"

Ignoring that comment, the guards took a few steps to get near him, and placed their hands on each side of Sasuke's shoulders, and send a pulse of chakra through his body.

But, that Uchiha still remained.

"Just who are you?" Kotetsu whispered to Sasuke in shock while his partner was too perplexed to say anything.

"I told you my name earlier."

"If that's the case, then why do you look so much older?" Izumo finally snapped out his puzzlement.

"Time travel, I suppose." He answered dispassionately.

"Hmm, you do resemble that brat. The Sharingan proves it too, and all the other tests."

"Not to mention his attitude aligns." Kotetsu said additionally.

Not wasting anymore time, Sasuke said in finality."Take me to the Hokage, he'll handle this." To his convenience, that old man is fairly reasonable, assuming that he's still running his post. If not, then he'll just have to deal with that blonde gambler.

...

"Hokage-sama, you're not going to believe this! We have someone you would like to meet and it's very urgent. He claims that he's from the future!" Exclaimed one of the Chunin guards.

"You may enter," Jiraiya replied. "Someone from the future, huh? This, I have to see. Based on the guard's tone of voice, it seems that this Time-traveler may have proven his claims." Today just turned out to be a very interesting day for Jiraiya, the Fifth Hokage, aside from watching the quite, dramatic events of the Chunin exams' preliminaries.

"I wonder if Tsunade-hime's thoughts are on the same page as me." He continued to contemplate.

"This is ridiculous! There's no way in hell that someone can just waltz right into the Hokage's office, and claimed that they are from the future."
Tsunade gritted, while mentally debating with herself. "For Kami's sake, this is Konoha we're talking about. We had already dealt with Kumo's ploy, so we're not going to fall for something ridiculous like time-travel. I would bet my whole life's savings if this is some random entertainer from outside our village trying to make spectacle out of us!"

However, this belief of her's was short-lived when:

"SASUKE?!" Both Jiraiya and Tsunade cried in surprise as they scan the Raven's adult physique. Their voice echoed all across the building as if an Oto Genin casted an airwave jutsu, confusing ninja and clerks who heard it.

Enter, Sasuke Uchiha, veteran of the Fourth Great Ninja War, and now turned Wanderer.

The former Avenger widen his eyes and gasped in shock while both Jiraiya and Tsunade exchanged the same expression as well. As they stare in awkward silence, both parties reached different conclusions after witnessing what they just saw, and what they just saw was a complete anomaly, depending on who you're asking of course.

"What? Jiraiya? One of the three Legendary Sannin and Naruto's former sensei? This has to be some cruel joke. He supposed to be dead!"
The self-proclaimed last Uchiha asked himself in disbelief and slight shock, but quickly regain his composure since he's a shinobi after all. Not to mention that he had been through a lot. He participated in a war, fought a revived, legendary Uchiha, defeated a Rabbit Goddess with the help of his team, and even go against a child-looking woman with a hemokinetic bloodline limit. If He can managed his aforementioned, past problems, then he shouldn't be bothered by his current predicament.

His thoughts shifted to mental planning. "When I confronted the guards, they didn't have a clue about who I am. So inevitably, like what I did to the guards, I must show them that I really am from the future (or a different future), and get it over with, so that I can get answers immediately in order to determine the next course of action to take."

Jiraiya's mind began to race. "Is this really Sasuke? Come to think of it, his facial features does resemble his younger version aside from the spiky hair and drapes of bangs covering the left side of his face. Though, I got to admit, he's still more or less emo despite being an adult. And why is he wearing a black traveling cloak? Akatsuki much?"

"Well, I just lost my own imaginary bet." Tsunade said to herself in defeat. "Nevermind that. Focus, girl, focus! You are part of the three legendary Sannin, and the Hokage's wife. You need to get to bottom of this."

Sasuke broke the silence.

"What happened to Konoha? And why are you alive, Jiraiya?" He bluntly asked with a hint of arrogance in his tone.

Tsunade fired back. "First of all, address him as Hokage-sama; and second, whoever you are, you better explain yourself! A being from the future? I don't believe a word of it!"

"Calm down, Tsunade-hime, we n-"

"Don't you dare 'Tsunade-hime' me right now" Tsunade barked, which made her husband moved slightly backwards.

"Have you forgotten? Kumo tried to acquire the Byakugan by tricking us into being part of treaty with them. Unfortunately for Kumo, we stayed in Konoha at the time." Tsunade reminded her husband, sounding enraged.

But Jiraiya argued, "Yes, I am fully aware of our village's past affairs, but what does that have to do with the current situation?" Hopefully, the prospect of sharing his Icha Icha ideas based on the preliminaries' dramatic events with his wife wasn't the reason why she's been ticked off to begin with. Or is it?

"It does have to do with the current situation, Jiraiya, and y-"

"If I remember correctly, the Hokage office I know didn't end up as a place to play house." the Vagabond, losing his patience, interrupted right before the Slug Princess even get to finish her sentence. "I'm tired of having our times being wasted," he added.

Sasuke's choice of words completely silenced the Sannin couple. Much to their added shock, they both did not expect the mysterious man to have the audacity to insult two powerful, well-known ninja in the village as if he knows that he has the power in the world to easily take them down at any given time.

Momentarily, the Sannin gazed at the Wanderer with a hard stare, but Jiraiya was the first out of the two to respond.

"Let's try this again. My name is Jiraiya, the current Fifth Hokage of Konohagakure. How can I help you today, young man." The Toad Sage said professionally, pretending that Sasuke's earlier comment didn't happen.

"I'm Sasuke Uchiha, what is Konoha's current state, and why you're even alive?"

Before Tsunade was about to open her mouth, Jiraiya raised his arm up, signifying her to remain quiet.

Jiraiya answered, "Konoha is the same as it is, and for why I'm alive, you could say it's a shinobi's luck. Is that all you want to know?"

The response that the Ravenette received was annoyingly half-baked, so instead...

"Explain the outcome of the Uchiha coup." Sasuke needed to know the outcome of the failed rebellion to confirm his suspicions.

"What? Why would an Uchiha ask about that? Shouldn't he know about the details?" Both the Sannin thought.

"The Uchiha Insurrection ended up as failure for your clan. Both sides of the conflict received many casualties. The three remaining members include you, or your younger self, Itachi, and Shisui. They are currently loyal residents of Konoha after the occurrence."

That statement really hit Sasuke hard. The news of how the Uchiha's coup actually took place in this reality didn't seem to matter to him at the moment. His senses are now amassed with overflowing emotions once he heard the name of his deceased older brother. He had never felt this way for a such a long time.

"Keep it together. Now's not the time." He told himself.

"And how about Naruto life's so far?" Sasuke asked impassively.

This change of topic quickly shifted Jiraiya's mood.

"Oh, Naruto? Glad you asked! After the Kyubi's attack, Me and my beautiful wife, Tsunade, (dropped the "hime" part for obvious reasons) took in Naruto as our adopted son, and raised him as part of our family along with our twins Hagane and Kaida. Did you know that just very recently, Naruto victoriously succeeded the Chunin exams' preliminaries?" He told the Uchiha, carefully not bringing up the particular jutsu that Naruto had used in the process.

After he said that, he looked over to his side and noticed that the Slug Princess's frustrated look seem to digress, and was replaced by what seem to be a showcase of pride instead.

Sasuke took the time to process the new information that he just obtained, and it wasn't a positive one. That is because he's now stuck in an alternate reality caused by some unknown input, and he doesn't have any memory of the world-transferring process happening to him. He could just use his Rinnegan's dimension traveling abilities but his knowledge of this is very limited. He doesn't even know if it can even reach his own reality, and that space-time travel differs from each parallel universe along with the dimensions that exhibits each.

He decided. He would risk using his Dojutsu as a last resort when all else fails, or have no lead to go back home. For the time being, he would need to investigate the source of his situation while staying in this alternate reality, and keep his involvement here miniscule as possible so he won't stray from his goal. Not to mention visiting a certain someone while doing so. But first…

"Now that we answered your questions, don't you think it's fair if you return the same courtesy?" The Hokage asked suggestively. "So, who are you really?"

"Fine. What you two are seeing right now, standing in front you, is an older version of the 'Sasuke' you know." The questionee declared boredly. He activated his clan's bloodline limit. "And I can assure you that it's the truth."

Both Jiraiya and Tsunade fixed their eyes on the crimson orb as its three tomoe appeared, and nodded in agreement.

"We need further testing" Tsunade told both men, after a some period of silence from her.

Again, Sasuke was trialed by the same tactics used by the guards for sake of attesting his claims.

"This is unreal...you really are from the future." Tsunade gasped, finally admitting it, while Jiraiya merely motion his head.

"A Different future." Sasuke corrected. "The timeline that I'm from contrasts yours."

"WHAT?!"

"This isn't a joke, why did you think I even bother wasting my breath asking questions about Konoha, the Hokage, the coup, and that Loser." He snarked.

Understanding Sasuke's reasoning, Jiraiya replied, "So that means that your questions are just a way of gathering intel to confirm your suspicions." It was a statement rather than question.

"Hn."

"So how did you managed to end up in our world?"

The Ravenette sighed."If I told you that I woke up in the middle of forest with no memory of how I got here, would you believe me?"

"Normally, anyone sane enough wouldn't agree with that. But after verifying your claims, I think that if we have a Time-traveler standing here in this room, the matter of you appearing in our world with partial amnesia can't be overlooked." Jiraiya's tone to changed to seriousness. "However, please keep in mind that what you say can leave some consequences."

"I'm aware. What could I possibly gain for lying especially to a Sannin like you?"

The Hokage pondered on what to do next, and reached a decision.

"I've made up my mind, Sasuke-san. Regardless of the anomaly that has presented to us, and where you came from, you're still a shinobi and resident of Konoha. Therefore, you have my approval to walk freely in our village."

This prompted Tsunade to quickly protest.

"But Jiraiya, how will the people react to this?!"

"Relax Tsunade, if we let Zabuza walk freely here, don't you think it's fair if Sasuke-san does the same? Besides, we can't keep this a secret forever anyway."

"Fine. You win this round." Tsunade can't helped but to accept the facts. There's one detail that's been agitating her: Jiraiya's Death. She didn't believe it at first, but now that the Time-traveler has proved himself, she needs to know more about that dire event.

"You said that my husband is dead in your future? What does that supposed to mean? ANSWER!" She demanded desperately.

If Jiraiya really died in the future, regardless of whether it's in different timeline or not. It would still be useful knowledge to eliminate any potential variables that may bring about his fate.

"We're shinobi. It's going to happen sooner or later. And didn't hear the young man? Our timelines are not the same, so the outcome might not occur here. His knowledge from the other timeline is potentially void for us, and we don't want to have misinformation guiding our actions." Jiraiya reassured her, which made her calm down a little. "Moreover, we have other matters to discuss"

"I will have to personally ask the Time-traveler about this later." Tsunade thought.

"Other matters?" Sasuke asked in his usual impassiveness.

"Correct. If it's okay with you, Sasuke-san, I'm planning on gathering the Genin teams' Jonin-sensei here, so that I can tell them to inform their students of your presence to prevent any complications with your introduction later on."

"Fine by me."

...

In the Streets of Konoha

As they are on their way to Konoha's bar, the five Jonin-sensei of the Konoha teams that made it to the finals were blocked by a male, Anbu ninja, wearing a dog mask with red markings, amid the moving crowd of civilians.

"Hey, what gives? Can't you see we're on our way to celebrate our students' victory," Exclaimed Asuma. He was looking forward to this since he's the one who suggested the other Jonin to tag along to the bar in the first place, but now there's change of plans.

"Hokage-sama has informed me to tell all of you to meet him at his office," The Anbu stated matter-of-factly.

"This must be about Sasuke." Shizune thought, anxiously. "Perhaps, me and Shisui chastising him about his battle with Neji wasn't enough."

Kurenai (almost) had the same feeling as Shizune. "This must be about Naruto. The Hokage probably wants a word about me regarding Naruto's 'Jutsu.'''

Meanwhile in the background, Kakashi and Gai seem to be less tense and more casual about the Anbu's statement. Nonetheless, they're still curious to know why their presence was requested.

When the Jonin opened the door, what they saw before them was a mysterious, familiar-looking Ravenette, standing between the two Sannin. The Jonin have mixed thoughts.

"I can't help but feel the sensation of youth burning inside this young man!"

"Don't tell me this is…"

"Why does he almost look like…"

"I guess this isn't about Naruto, but who is that man? And why does he look so familiar?"

"Damn, this guy is cute."

Jiraiya initiated the introduction.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I, THE TOAD SAGE, PRESENT T—OW!"

Unlike Jiraiya, Tsunade got to the point. "Please excuse the Hokage, he can get carried away sometimes. Now then, I know this may sound hard to believe, but the man you see here is an older Sasuke Uchiha from a different future outside of our own timeline, and he is currently staying in Konoha, and you should inform his presence to your Genin students as soon as possible for Sasuke-san's convenience."

Before any surprise comments are made, Sasuke lazily activated his Sharingan as a means of clarification.

"WHAT?!"

Out of all the Jonin present, Shizune's cry was by far the loudest.

"OH KAMI, I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I JUST CONSIDERED ONE OF MY STUDENTS ATTRACTIVE! THIS IS SO WRONG, AND I PROBABLY WON'T SEE SASUKE-KUN THE SAME WAY ANYMORE!" Shizune thought to herself in embarrassment.

"Shizune-chan, why is your face red, are you okay?" Asked Kurenai, worryingly, unbeknownst to the real reason behind it.

"Oh, what? It is? Must be some minor fever. No need to worry, I'm a medic-nin afterall hehehe." She said nervously as she awkwardly hover her green-glowing palm around her head.

Tsunade facepalmed. "This better not give Jiraiya any wrong ideas for his novel."

However, Jiraiya's mind was already clouded with new Icha Icha ideas after witnessing that.

"Ha, I guess I have something to look forward to after Icha Icha Violence Part II" he inwardly chuckled. "And it's Icha Icha Sensei. Ingenious. That would sell for sure. But first..."

"Anyhow, I know that you all have questions to ask Sasuke-san regarding the events that took place in his world, but be mindful that we shouldn't let his world's intel guide our every action due to the differences of how our timelines developed. Therefore, overly relying on said intel would potentially cause more harm than good, and endanger others. We are ninja. We must be flexible to situations that are thrown at us. I will discuss with him, and relay vital information to you all if I deem it relevant, understand?"

"Yes, Hokage-sama." All the Jonin said in sync.

"Are there any concerns before I dismiss you all?"

"Actually, I do have concerns, Hokage-sama." Shizune declared with worried looks in her eyes, looking back at the prelims. "How will Sasuke-san handle the village's reactions and the backlash he's going to recieve? What if he—"

"Calm down, medic-nin, I'm not a child with emotional issues. At least not anymore, and I could care less what others think about me." Sasuke could not understand why this blacked-haired medic-nin that he was familiar with in his world, which he saw time to time, seem to be very concern about him for some reason.

"I have a name, and I'm not some medic-nin, and address me as Shizune-sensei. Did you happened to drop your manners when you got older?" She scolded.

Despite waking up in alternate reality filled with changes, Sasuke did not expect to hear this new piece of information. "Oh well, it doesn't matter. Surprises should be irrelevant to me at this point. I'm in a different timeline after all."

"You're talking to the wrong 'Sasuke' here. Where I'm from, Kakashi is my sensei, not you. And I'm glad he is because he doesn't seem to waste his energy babying me like what you just did."

All the Jonin's eyes widen and were taken aback at his statement. On the other hand, the Sannin merely sighed as they knew this was going to happen.

He continued much to everyone's dismay. "My manners to you were never required."

This caused Shizune to twitched her eyes in frustration since she doesn't know what to say next. Though Sasuke's words did riled her up, he had a valid point. This is not the 'Sasuke' she knew so she should try to change her way of speaking to this older version. "Why must he be so difficult."

Ideas began to storm inside Kakashi's head. "So, this older Sasuke is my counterpart's student, huh. That would make a lot of sense, given the fact that it's possible that the other me possess a Sharingan and can train him. But in this reality, that wouldn't be necessary since the younger Sasuke here have two Uchiha relatives to do the Sharingan training for him." This was giving Kakashi a bad feeling. "Unless…"

Kurenai cleared her throat. "Ahem, what Shizune is trying to say, Sasuke-san, is that your younger counterpart did something unthinkable during the preliminaries, which prompted Shizune to be worried about your place in Konoha, fearing that...history will repeat itself."

"What did he do?" Sasuke raised his eyebrows.

"Well, you see…"

Shizune intervened.

"My student, Sasuke-kun, attempted to kill Neji Hyuga after having his clan insulted during his match." She said with a determined look in her eyes. "And it was my fault as his team's sensei for not foreseeing that. All I did was hoping that he could keep his anger in check, but I ended up yelling him to stop. I should've known him better. I should've intervene during the match the moment it was starting to escalate."

Going over the events is starting to make her feel uncomfortably agitated as it reminded her role in that incident.

"If Shisui didn't stop him in my place...then…"

"I see." Sasuke said. "Although, I couldn't blame him, I might done the same thing if I were in his position. What did that Hyuga say?"

Shizune averted her gaze. "It started when Neji stated that your counterpart's arrogance during the match was the same trait the Uchiha had when they tried to take over Konoha—uhh, no offense to you, Sasuke-san, those are not my words!"

This earned Shizune eyerolls from Sasuke.

"Then, Neji told Sasuke-kun about something like the Uchiha showed Neji true fear, and he admitted his probable underestimation of my student...but it got worse when he brought up the coup's bloodshed meanwhile Sasuke-kun, in his younger, child days, was asleep at home."

After Shizune finished recalling the incident, everyone fixed their gaze on Sasuke, wondering how he would react to this, and what he had to say next. But within moments, they received their answer.

"The discrimination. The blind hatred. The fog of ignorance. This is what my counterpart and the remaining Uchiha have to endure in Konoha, right? It seems that no matter how different both our worlds are, we are fated to face the inevitable. Even so, we are not alone when fate cross paths with us." He recalled memories of him clashing with Naruto at the Valley of the End during his Genin days. "We have our comrades looking out for us, and make us pull through. That's why I'm sure that my counterpart will learn to correct himself, even after what happened."

Despite having this said in his typical monotone, his words made everyone in the room baffled aside from his otherworldly presence.

Hearing every word, Shizune was lost in deep thought. "This 'Sasuke' seems so mature and sensible. What happened in his world that led him to reach that conclusion? He doesn't seem to show his usual cockiness and temperament that his younger version possess, not counting the snide remarks he displayed in the room. I guess 'time' can really change people. I just hope Sasuke-kun will grow up to be much like his older self."

Asuma finally said something in the room. "Was I hit by a genjutsu? Because I just heard Sasuke said something wise and impactful for once."

"ASUMA!" Both Shizune and Kurenai cried.

"What? Someone has to bring some light after a moment of doom and gloom." He nonchalantly defended. "And you know, I was kind of expecting him to throw some sign of tiny bit of anger."

"I believe that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, Asuma." Gai joined in.

And Jiraiya as well. "Alright, now that everything seems to be settled, I would like to dismiss you all because I would hate to have you all wait for your celebration."

"The celebration...OH SHIT! I FORGOT ABOUT THAT!" Asuma yelled in realization. He grabbed both of Kakashi and Gai's hands.

"um...Asuma is this really—"

"No time to talk, Kakashi, we don't have all night."

"Now that's the spirit!" Gai chimed.

And the three of them rushed out of the door as the two kunoichi sighed.

"Come on, Shizune-chan, let's catch up with them."

"Okay. See you later, Sasuke-san."

"It was a pleasure meeting you." Said Kurenai.

They opened the door and in a naked eye, they appeared to teleport. Sasuke began to speak when the door finally shut.

"Now that introductions are over with, do you two plan on keeping me in this room longer?" He asked, almost mockingly.

"No, I think we got things done for the time being, and it's late. There's some questions that I still want to ask you, but we'll deal with that another time." Jiraiya replied.

Sasuke nodded in agreement.

"So where's Itachi? I would like to meet him."

"You showed up at the right time, young man. Just a while ago, before you arrived in this room, Itachi came to ask me to use the vacation weeks I owed him. He's currently at the Uchiha compound."

Tsunade inquired. "Speaking of the Uchiha, you seem visibly shocked once you heard the news of the coup's outcome. If I may ask, what is the fate of the Uchiha in your world?"

Jiraiya placed his hand on her shoulder. "Tsunade."

Sasuke's head lowered and expression covered.

"You have no idea..."

Not far from there, Sasuke was heading towards his house. After listening to what appeared to be hours of interrogation from multiple groups, Sasuke is finally able to see his older brother. Despite knowing that the true Itachi Uchiha died in his world, and the one he's meeting is nothing more than a copy, he decided that he shouldn't ignore the opportunity presented to him. It's not everyday for someone to get to see their deceased loved ones being alive, not including the Reanimation Jutsu. Regardless, the Itachi here is still Itachi.

The Uchiha compound seem to remain the same like back in his own world. He doubted that having the two Sannin stay in Konoha as this timeline's butterfly effect would make any drastic changes to his clan's home artitecture, but he's not going to underestimate other factors that the variable has affected. Any changes developed in this reality can change the tide of potential battles, so he took Jiraiya's warning and decided not to heavily depend on his experience with his world's history. Hell, Asura and Indra's reincarnation might not even manifest in this world for all he knows.

As Sasuke got nearer and nearer to his house, he saw a familiar figure standing in front of the house's exterior. Both pairs of eyes staring at each other, unblinking.

Then suddenly, not holding his emotions in check any longer, two lines of tears streaked on Sasuke's face.

"Itachi."

"Sasuke?"

...

Icharaku's Restaurant

Naruto, Hinata, and Haku were celebrating their success in the exam's preliminaries. After Teuchi decided treat them to the first bowl of ramen as a way to reward and encourage them for their hard work, the trio still remained for obvious reasons.

"Naruto, don't you think you have enough ramen? It's already your eleventh bowl." Haku said.

"Ha! This is nothing, Haku, my ramen count tonight isn't that comparable to my usual average." Naruto boasted.

"But don't you have training with Hokage-sama tomorrow, N-Naruto-kun? You don't want to have a sick stomach getting in the way." Hinata reminded her teammate in her usual, meek tone.

"Awww, Hinata cares about me." Naruto joked.

"Eeehh?!" Hinata's face turned instantly tomato. "Oh, p-please don't get the wrong idea, Naruto-kun, it's just that we're teammates and we have to look out for each other." She nervously reassured.

Naruto smiled back at her. "Thanks, Hinata, what are teammates for?"

And she happily nodded back.

Haku's peripheral eye looked to the side and saw what appeared to be Kurenai walking near the ramen stand.

"Hey guys, look, it's Kurenai-sensei." He said as he faced his sensei's direction.

Naruto and Hinata turned their heads as well.

"Good evening, Kurenai-sensei, how was the party? Shouldn't you be celebrating with the other senseis?" Their sensei's unexpected visit made Haku curious.

"Good evening to all of you." She returned a smile. "I had a great time. However, Shizune-sensei and I decided to leave early because we figured that we both have important matters to attend to."

"Like joining us with a bowl of ramen?"

This caused everyone to chuckled in response. Classic Naruto.

"No, it's not that." Kurenai regained her composure. "There's something that you all need to know."

Author's Note: OOF, I bet you guys didn't expect a double cliffhanger. As for the next chapter update, I'm not exactly sure. I'll update when I have the time because I have personal issues IRL to deal with, and I know we can all agree that real life's a b*tch. Also, if you have ideas for older Sasuke's interaction/conversation with Itachi or with other characters, feel free to PM me. BTW my main motivation for writing this story in the first place is to introduce a new category/genre (probably) into the Naruto fanfic site, which is AU x Canon. I honestly don't know why this isn't a thing. You have different characters from fanfiction and canon world interacting with each other, and I think that's pretty cool ASF. Maybe the idea is just too complicated to write for other people, I'm not the one to judge.

You might be wondering why Sasuke cried when he encountered Itachi. Sasuke might be a cold and calculating shinobi, but he's still human. And his reaction is pretty natural for someone who lost a family member who literally changed his life, and getting the chance to see that person again.

I'm not sure if you noticed but this chapter is literally FULL of references, and some parts are parallel to Son of the Sannin's chapter 1, 21, & 25. I did that reference as a neat easter egg and a throwback to that AU's previous chapters.

Anyway, don't forget to leave a review and follow this story.
