Unconditional

Ava nearly hissed when she saw how her son's hair was brushed, and took it on herself to brush his hair herself despite her husband's claims about how the hair was fine, and Ava growled before moving back and brushing her son's hair. Rajesh shared a sorrowful look to his son before sitting down across from them. Rajesh was not big on weddings and looked much like how his son was looking on his wedding day, but he didn't want to disappoint his son anymore.

After having a chat with a guy named Elias, Rajesh had taken it on himself to show his son he did care. He allowed Ghostly to shout at him as much as possible, to get whatever he needed out, and when it was over, he found his son crying and he just hugged him until the sobs vanished. There, he had went to do things with his son, and he actually showed him he could shoot a gun at the Gun Range. Of course Ghostly was shocked but found his father had been a police before going to BearTown and being a businessman.

The two had bounded more than they had when the blue haired man was growing up, and Rajesh couldn't help but feel prouder than he had before. The fatherly proud feeling was more powerful than he felt before. Rajesh cursed himself for never really being there for his son before, but this was certainly better than nothing, and he patted his son on his back when he noted how nervous Ghostly was looking. He could very much relate to his son's feelings right now.

"I can relate," Rajesh explained as Ava moved to check on other things, and Ghostly gazed at his father with a confused expression. "You're nervous. You have every right to be, son. But let me tell you something, it's very worth it. Once you go out there and swore your life to her and she does the same, you'll see how much you love her. The ring you've given her-I'm glad my mother saved it for you and didn't give it me. Trust me son, the nerves will calm."

"Thanks dad," Ghostly smiled happily at his father, hugging him. "I needed that."

Rajesh kissed his head and looked him in the eyes. "Your love for her will be unconditional. It is right now. As is her love for you. Now, come, it's going to start any minute now, and I believe you don't want to make her wait."

Ghostly laughed before following his father out of the room and down to where he was needed the most. His nerves started coming up once more until he remembered his father's words and bite his lip. No. Everything will be okay because they waited until the right moment to decide on the date and they decided on July 10th, a few months after Violet turned twenty and it was enough time to decide on things they wanted, and everything was great.

Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw how his father sat down next to his mother, and spoke with his new mother-in-law and he closed his eyes. He knew it was Violet's uncle who was giving her off to him, and he hadn't really met the man because he was on the other side of the world but flew over here under his sister's request to bring her daughter down the aisle, and while Mr. Nightshade didn't like the idea, he loved his niece and left his current job for a holiday to be able to do so.

But by god did Mr. Nightshade look so much like his sister it was almost scary to know. At least he knew for sure Violet got her looks from her father. Now, he was gazing down at his feet, wondering if she was actually ready for this but he closed his eyes and told himself everything was good, and they were both ready for this. He would truly wait for Violet if she wasn't ready for it.

Rajesh gave his son a look when Ghostly caught his eye, and he smiled happily at his baby boy before wrapping his arm around Ava's shoulders, for a moment, Ghostly saw what could've been a normal happy family growing up and smiled before gazing back at Buddy. Buddy clapped his hand despite nothing happening and Blaine laughed before patting Buddy's back, and Ray rolled his eyes.

Ray didn't get Buddy and that was okay.

Then, everything started, and Ghostly's nerves return once more but he calmed himself down when he thought about how his father spoke about how worth it was when the big moment was done and over with.

Ava moved to whisper to her husband about how she didn't think they would be able to get along one day. "You always seem too upright with work to notice," she whispered on, keeping her eyes on her son and daughter-in-law when the ordin started speaking. "I'm just glad you two were able to put it all behind you."

"I am too," Rajesh said, kissing Ava's head. "I hope I can be a better father than I was back then to him and I have to step up my game hence we have a daughter-in-law, you know? It's almost like having a second child."

Violet's mother moved to look at her in-laws. "Your son is wonderful, even if they didn't get married, he always seemed like a son to me. How did you manage to end up with a gentleman son like him?"

"Have to hand it to my mother," Rajesh admitted. "She was always there for him when I was too busy, and she shaped him into the gentleman. My mother taught him the Alder way, not me. Thank my lucky stars for a mother like her."

"Hush!" Ava told them. "I want to see my baby get married."

Rajesh chuckled quietly before leaning back against his chair, watching the rest of the wedding, smiling away when he heard the vows and the 'I do's' being said and couldn't help the tears from falling. He never thought this day would come and to see it happened, made his heart sore. Inwardly, Rajesh wondered if is this what his parents felt at his own wedding.

He hoped his wife didn't see him crying when they kissed, and he wiped his eyes before Ava could see the tear lining on his cheeks and stood up to clap when everyone else did.

Wonderful.

"Do you see?" Rajesh asked as he stepped up to chat with his son. "How the nerves vanished when you got up there and saw her?"

"Yeah," Ghostly smiled happily. "They vanished. I didn't think they would do so, dad. It really felt great to know they weren't there anymore."

Rajesh patted his shoulder and gazed towards Violet, who was speaking with her mother and being hugged by her sister while her uncle held a bottle of beer, and smirked before pointing at his son's wife. "Dance." he ordered.

Ghostly flushed bright red, and quickly gazed at his father. "Wait, what? But… it's not until later though! I'm serious, it's later!"

"Then, go spend time with her," Rajesh said, crossing his arms with a smirk. He rubbed his chin. "First, let me fix your suit." he said, brushing some fake dust off of his son's suit and fixing the collar. "Better, you look more handsome this way."

Ghostly snickered before moving off to be with his wife and meet Violet's uncle before speaking with his new in-laws, and Rajesh hugged his wife before moving to meet the other side of the family who joined them. Ava got along well with Violet's mother, and Rajesh spoke the best he could with her uncle.

Violet could tell her father-in-law didn't really know how to speak with her uncle and to be fair, no one really did, and she was just glad he was trying to bond with her side of the family. Ghostly took her hand before kissing her cheek, and she smiled warmly at him before putting her head on his shoulder.

Then, they were stolen by their friends. Their families laughed before moving to speak with each other while the friends spoke. Buddy nearly crushed Ghostly by hugging him, Ray smiled at his best buddy and Blaine snickered before telling him to step up his game now he was married. Ghostly shared a smile with his friend, Katie Morris, and gave her a hug before kissing Violet's cheek.

"We get it," Reagan rolled her eyes. "You're married."

"Shut up," Ghostly laughed. "You have a kid to raise, and that's way more heavy than getting married."

Reagan snickered. "Jokes on you, Iris is with her grandmother at the moment, so ha! We're child-free today." Blaine kissed his girlfriend's head. "But seriously, this is a much more important right now."

"Damn right," Ray nodded. "How many weddings take place a year? Not a lot, but they do happen each year on different days."

Violet laughed and rolled her eyes. "Of course."

"When's the first dance, pal?" Buddy asked, putting his arm on Ghostly's shoulder, his eyes sparkling. "Huh? When is it?"

"Easy, Buddy!" Ghostly said, smiling away as he held his wife's hand. "It'll be soon. Don't worry, you can dance with your girlfriend soon."

And when they did dance, everything would be great.
