Aislinn
He looked gorgeously irresistible tonight. Not that he was any different from any other night, but there was just something so different about him this night. Maybe it was the sadness that glimmered in his light-filled eyes, but she just didn't know. It hurt her more on the inside, cause she knew what he longed for. What he longed for her to do, to say. It was like the differences between her and Seth's new directions in life had cause them to grow some-what apart. The mortality she longed to hold on to, was slipping through her fingers; leaving her grasp. Just like Keenan was; he was turning to walk away from her now. She didn't know what possessed her, but before she knew it, the words she'd been so long holding inside of her, came spilling out.
"Keenan, I don't know what I want anymore,"
"Look, if you're thinking of un-doing this whole queen thing, it's not gonna-"
"No. It's not that at all. I mean, I don't know. This friend thing we have going on between us….I just…I want more. Is that so hard to believe?"
He was used to girls - especially mortal ones - falling in love with him. But he had lost so much hope after his seemingly immunity to Aislinn that, this, had come as a shock to him.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that…I think I love you, Keenan. I've been trying to ignore it to save me and Seth's relationship but I don't know what it is about tonight, believe me I don't, I just can't ignore it any longer. A brief look of absolute shock came over his face, just as it did when Donia had said those same words. I knew it, I shouldn't have said anything. This is gonna ruin everything - The Summer Court, My Faery life, Donia…Seth, she thought.
"Aislinn," he said, grabbing her as she looked as she was about to faint. "I do love you," as if he'd been reading her mind. "I have loved you since the day I saw the way you looked at Seth, and I knew, that that was the love I'd want you to someday have for me." He was holding her more gently and lovingly now. She felt the sunlight beaming through them both as her love sparked. This was nothing she had ever felt before. Then she remembered him - Seth. But the feeling she had now was too strong to ignore. She wrapped her arms around him and as she did, he felt a mixture of love and light spreading all throughout him.
"Keenan, I…. and Seth…. And I just don't -"
"No, Aislinn. I beg of you. Don't fight this any longer. I mean I know you can't have us both and soon you will have to let one of us go, but right now, let's forget all this," he said, motioning to the revel that swirled around them, "Let's be happy."
She did nothing but smile and listen to his words, how powerful and genuine they sounded, leaving his mouth. He was a lot sexier than she imagined now that happiness and true rays of hope were burning inside him. I have loved him all along, she thought again to herself, but this time not afraid to admit it. And as she rested her head on his warm chest she felt as if all things in the world - mortal and immortal - were right again. This, is what being Queen had meant.
She knew their feelings at that moment had been strong, but part of her hadn't expected what happened next: they both gravitated towards each other, like the sun and the horizon, into a intensely passionate kiss, allowing all their volatility to expose as their once hidden love expressed in great gallons to all the other Summer fey.
A kiss, he knew, was a sign of love and for once, in centuries that had felt like forever, he was happy once again. He was king and now his queen and him connected in a way that seemed to exceed far past just their tongues and it didn't stop for another long moment of love.
The summer king and queen were finally united and as it became known to all the Summer Court, the took in all the emotion, and embraced all the love.
