Hey, listen, I was having a good life before Kronos decided to curse me. He said that- you know what? Let me just explain how it happened
It was the Battle of Manhattan. Annabeth, Grover, and I were facing Kronos. Grover was desperately playing on his reed pipes to make strong, thick roots pop out and ensnare Kronos's legs. Kronos was breaking each one per step. Annabeth was pleading with Luke/Kronos to stop. I, well, I was there in a dance of death with Kronos. I could almost see Thanatos. Wait- Was that popcorn?!
"Foolish demigod!" Kronos taunted,"You can never beat a Titan, you ignorant brat!"
However, as the fight went on, I started to gain the upper hand. Kronos tried to use his time powers, but I just focused on the feeling of a rapid river or a waterfall. I had been practicing this with Hermes, the god of speed to slow me down.
Of course, I was using my powers too. That didn't mean much though because every time I hit home with Anaklusmos, it would bounce off. By then both of our armor came off since both of us were getting sloppy from exhaustion, resulting in many hits. I felt like I was gonna collapse when I hit a lucky shot near Luke/Kronos's upper arm.
The hit shocked him so bad that the golden eyes I have come to hate turned a sky blue.
"Luke?!" Annabeth gasped.
"Percy, strike me, before it's too late..." Luke pleaded.
"I...I...um..." I was at a loss of words. He was turning back to us! The demigods! (There was no way he was doing this for the Olympians)
"Just kill me! Before you do, though, I got to ask Annabeth something." I could see in his eyes it was all he could do to stay..well... Luke!
"Did you love me? Cause I sure as Tartarus love you." He said with exhaustion and wear.
"Yes Luke. Always." Annabeth replied without a beat.
I was surprised at this, and to be honest disappointed, but I had to admit that my feelings for Annabeth, well, were, childish. Insignificant. So I let them enjoy this moment.
"Okay look, I will try to make this painless." I promised. With a heavy heart and hysterical gasp from Annabeth, I brought Riptide forward Luke.
As soon as the sword was inside his body, the blue eyes flashed back to cold, cruel gold ones.
"So you actually beat me, huh?" Kronos said with disappointment, shock, grudging respect, and...wait...was that gleeful anticipation in his eyes?
"Well, too bad because I got some thing for you, Perseus." He started chanting, despite Grover's attempts at silencing him and me stuffing my sword in his mouth repeatedly.
I translated it automatically to
I send you, Perseus Jackson, back in time . You can never live in a happy old age with this threat during the second you are finally happy.'
I watched as Kronos's essence dissolve after he said that. He disappeared with a victorious smirk, despite being defeated.
I always kept that at the back of my head. When I jumped in Tartarus while simultaneously pulling Annabeth out with my momentum. When I met Bob in Tartarus. When Leo, Jason, Piper, and I flew up to the sky with Gaia. Leo pulled out the fire. Jason carried Piper to charmspeak. I rode a storm while pelting with all the diiferent features of my dad's title, stormbringer. Heavy rain, sleet, hail, very hard snow, you name it. I even got a little lightning in there too. I thought for sure after I brought Meg and Apollo to Camp Half-Blood I would be affected. After that, I stopped worrying so much and tried to enjoy it while I had it. 4 days after I helped Annabeth's cousin, Magnus, son of Frey prepare with his ship, the curse came. After years of anticipation, it came out of nowhere while I was eating blue cookies alone.
A golden light consumed me. The water in the fish tank started hovering. My baby sister started crying. There was a flash of light golden light so bright it was blinding. I prepared myself against the white light when I felt like I landed. I opened my eyes to find myself...
...on a sidewalk in a city that looked like London?
