A/N: I don't own Max, Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gazzy or Angel. Nor do I own the Lyrics or the title of this story. They belong to The Fray. I do, however, own the little black box and the howling wind.

Fang stood stoic on the edge of the cliff. His black wings folded tight against his body. He held a small black box in his hands, his grip tight and close to crushing the thin cardboard and its contents.
The flock, Angel, Gasman, Nudge and Iggy, stood behind him. Fang felt his eyes burn as he took the lid off the box, dropping it to the ground beside him. This small act caused Angel to start sobbing hysterically.
A gust of wind blew, whipping his long dark hair around his face, whispering softly to him, a song of mourning.
She is everything I need,
That I never knew I wanted,
She is everything I want,
That I never knew I needed.
He lifted the box into the air, tilted it.
The ashes fell and a gust of salt heavy ocean air caught them, lifting them high into the air, forever flying.
Fang dropped the now empty box onto the ground beside him.
The muffled thud of the box was too much for Nudge. She started sobbing, her and Angel's grief uncontrollable.
He turned, watched, as Iggy and Gazzy wrapped their arms around the girls, their faces wet with tears, pain evident in their eyes.
Fang turned back to the ocean, his mouth a taught line, his jaw clenched tight.
He managed to choke out her name through the lump in his throat before he felt his heart break clean in two.
He fell to his knees, finally allowing the tears to fall. He wrapped his arms around his head; let the sobs wrack his body. He rocked backwards and forwards, felt his whole being split in two.
Max was everything to him, and he'd never told her. She had never known how much she meant to him, because he had been too scared and pigheaded to stop and listen to his feelings.
His sobs increased, his heart nothing but a dead muscle, a gaping wound where his soul should have been. He was broken, beyond repair, the only person that could fix him would be Max, and nothing he, or the Flock, could do would bring her back.
He stood, struggled to stay upright, before screaming, his voice breaking and echoing off the waves, whipping around the small group with the fierce, howling wind.
"MAX!!"
She is everything I need, that I never knew I wanted,
She is everything I want, that I never knew I needed,
This is going to bring me to my knees,
I just want to hold you close to me,
She is everything I need,
That I never knew I wanted,
She is everything I want,
That is never knew I needed.
She Is, The Fray

A/N: Well, if this made you cry, I don't mind. I was aiming for that. I just read Max, which was totally awesome, and was listening to my IPod when a vampire plot bunny bit me and wouldn't leave me alone until I'd written this. I managed to beat it off with my pen.
This is my first go at a song-fic, and my first Max Ride fic, and I think I did an okay job. I think.
Just letting you know, Max does not die, this was MY creation and in no way related to the Max Ride storyline.
Please read and review and let me know how I went.
