It's amazing how some things never change.

How they evolve over the years, develop and acquire new features, but still in their core remain the same as they have always been.

Like the show she was watching just now. Nothing special. A baking show that had been on ages ago and had recently been revived. With some little changes here and there. But still it entertained her just the same.

She wasn't the greatest baker herself. But she liked to see what could be done and get ideas that she would never put into action herself.

A juror was commenting on a fairly 3D cake depicting an adorable bat having one of its wings around a fairly frightened looking pumpkin, and she perceived the sweet laugh coming from her right.

And at this her focus went away from the TV show entirely.

She still couldn't believe this.

To be sitting next to her like this again. Cuddled up together under a blanket, just like old times.

She studied the amused face. The dimples she had loved so much from day one. The expressive blue eyes twinkling with joy. The tiny wrinkles that had appeared around them in the last few years and made her shine more than ever.

She had missed her. Never a day where she hadn't thought about her.

Yes, they had managed to live their lives separate from one another. New relationships, new friendships, new experiences that had made them grow as people.

However, the pull had been strong. And eventually they had been unable, unwilling to resist. Despite awareness that they might hurt each other again. But they had also learned to communicate and address problems right away before they could manifest themselves.

They were a new version of themselves.

So now, sitting here, doing this totally mundane thing, she was...

"What...?" Arizona finally wondered with a teasing tone in her voice, not having missed the observant eyes on her. Eyes that never failed to make her feel tingly. Loved and cherished.

"Nothing," Callie returned. "Just happy to have you back," she confessed softly and drew her arm around her love.

And at this Arizona could do nothing more than to kiss her contently, before cuddling deeper into Callie's protective embrace and nestling her head in the crook of her neck. "Me too".
