((Disclaimer: I don't own LwD! I wish I did, but I don't.))
Casey's POV
I glanced around the cafeteria, looking for Emily. She said that she would be sitting with Sheldon by the window. Where has that girl… oh, there they are. Em spotted me too, and began waving to me rapidly as she began tapping Sheldon on the shoulder. He glanced over and saw me and began waving to me too. I jogged over to them, slinging my backpack over my shoulder.
"Casey! Hi! You look great! You look so tan! How was Hawaii?" Emily asked on the first day back for winter break. We had gone to Hawaii for Christmas. George had won a big case in October, so we decided to take a vacation. We had loads of fun and Derek taught me to surf. (How the heck did he know how to surf?) He looked so hot…
"Casey! Earth to Casey! Come in Case!" I had been pulled out of my own thoughts be Sheldon, who was shaking my arm.
"Sorry." I grinned sheepishly. "We had loads of fun. We actually were able to see that place where they filmed Lost and Jurassic Park and other stuff. It was so cool. We rode there on horseback. Derek complained at first, but then he really got into taking pictures and stuff. I think he liked it." I said. "Also, I got you all something." I said, pulling a bag out our by book bag. "For you m'dear," I said pointing to Emily "You get a jar of sand, a magnet, and these really awesome flip-flops. And for you Sheldon, you get this magnet and a jar of sand." I handed Sheldon his magnet that said 'Smile if you got lei'd in Hawaii'. He laughed out loud at the sight. Emily giggled and then whacked him in the arm. I laughed at their antics.
"Come on you lovebirds, we need to get to class." I pulled them along until I heard someone say, 'Wouldn't want to be late on our first day back, now would we? ' I whirled around to se Derek, hands in his pockets, backpack slung over his shoulder.
"No I wouldn't, Derek. By the way, that sunburn is really bad." I said, touching the pink on his nose and cheeks. "Come on, just say it." I said, grinning.
"You were right." He said almost inaudibly. His red face got even redder. I gave him a broad grin, glanced around the empty cafeteria, and pecked him on the lips rather quickly. Just as I spun to leave, he grabbed my arm, pulled me back, and kissed me. My arm reached up to go around his neck. I heard a clickity-clack of high heels on the tile. I broke off the kiss and ran for the door. I had History to get to. As I was running down the empting halls, I ran smack into Paul, the guidance counselor. I went flying back onto the floor, landing rather hard on my butt, but breaking the fall with my arm. Paul managed to just stumble back.
"Casey! Are you okay?" Paul leaned over and offered his hand. He pulled me up of the ground.
"I'm fine, Paul. It wasn't that hard of a fall." I brushed myself off. "Can I get a pass to history class?" I asked.
"Sure. I just need a piece of paper." Paul got a pen out of his pocket and I grabbed a pink Post-It note from my backpack. He signed his name and I filled the rest of it out. I said thank you and dashed off to history.
