I'm Your Friend, Too
Mrs. Lovett really isn't planning to let Benjamin…Sweeney Todd stay in the room over her shop at first. It's not that she doesn't want him there—it's just that she figures with all that has happened there, he would never want to go near it.
But now she's watching him talk to his old razors like they're alive, like they're the only friends he has, and she wants—no, needs—to show him that's not true.
"We'll do wonders together," he whispers to the silver object in his hand.
"I'm your friend too, Mr. Todd." She means to say the words loudly and clearly, but they come out soft and nervous, like she needs to dig deeper to convince him of that. She admits how she's always liked him, but he still doesn't respond. And then she gets the idea of having him move in. "You can move in here, Mr. Todd."
He doesn't seem to care; just keeps admiring his razors.
I'm your friend, too.
