It was a very, very hot summer, and Hermione was experiencing difficulty in sleeping. The crickets were unbelievably loud, and they chirped all through the London night. She was with her muggle parents, of course, in their muggle compound full of muggle furniture and orthodontic equipment, as her parents were dentists.
That day was a mundane muggle day, with not much excitement going on aside from the occasional Wizarding newspaper, which was a boring read. She spent much of her time going over books and spells, which was normal for a young witch with muggle parents.
Yup, she thought, just another normal day. Nothing sweet, nothing nasty, just...bleh. I can't sleep like this. And indeed, it was a sweltering night.
Suddenly, she realized something. It wasn't this hot a few moments ago, was it? She glanced over at the thermometer and saw that it was a whopping 48 degrees!
"What is going on here!"
There was a distant rumbling, which got louder and louder, until the mere force of the sound shattered her window.
"Oh my god! Will it ever stop!" she complained, covering her head with her pillows. But the noise did not stop. Screams and the sound of muggle footsteps could be heard outside. More explosions occurred. Bright flashing lights illuminated the wall through her broken glass window. Sighing in frustration, Hermione got up and looked outside in exasperation. She saw Death Eaters all dressed in black cloaks covering the night sky like a swarm, blocking out the full moon. They were levitating cars, blowing up houses, and starting fires all across London. It was a horrific scene. One Death Eater, with blonde hair and looked suspiciously like Draco's dad shot a beam of cursed fire at the great London Bridge. It collapsed into the water, taking countless cars and muggle lives with it. A black figure rose into the night sky, revealing a deathly pale face with slit eyes.
"Worship me," he proclaimed. With these words, the night air suddenly got chillier as an icy breeze blew through the city, marking his ominous statement. Thanks to the wind, it was no longer too hot to sleep. Feeling tired, Hermione shut her curtains and went to bed.
It was the best sleep she ever had.
