Whoo, the sole thing I've written that isn't Nalu/Fairy Tail.

And this one is the exception to what I said in the last story, about drabbles that are less than 900 words not getting their own story. Y'know, since this one isn't Nalu.

Kyo grumbled as he fiddled with the collar of his coat. It was a brisk autumn morning, plenty cold - but he would've been just fine without.

But he could never say no to Tohru. She'd insisted he wear it.

Tohru'd been sick again the past couple of days, so of course the groceries hadn't gotten done, none of the boys having enough sense to do it. He'd woken up to their resident lady getting up at the brink of dawn, fretting over the fact that they didn't have any food for her to make breakfast with. She'd immediately started making a list before throwing on her coat, which was when Kyo had caught her and urged her to stay home and let him do it.

He hated how much work she did for them, but they were all helpless without her. If she hadn't made the list, he never even would've known what to buy! I mean, since when did we start stocking cinnamon!?

And now he was approaching the house, cringing the entire way at the slightly constricting collar around his neck and the smell of leeks from the bags in his arms.

Kyo sighed as he slid open the front door, hurrying to the kitchen. Before he went in, though, the sound of someone humming inside paused him. He quickly recognized it as Tohru's voice.

He quietly opened the door to the kitchen and carefully set the bags down inside before leaning against the frame, watching her. He'd told her to rest just to make sure her flu was gone, but of course she hadn't listened, and was apparently cleaning the kitchen and making it sparkle.

Kyo watched and listened intently. Her humming was more of a half-hum, half-sing, and Kyo caught a few of the lyrics.

"Waiting with patience for the spring, when the flowers will bloom renewed again~…"

Kyo smiled. He should be quelling these feelings for Tohru, but how could he? Every moment with her, around her, thinking of her- he seemed to fall even harder.

But he had to find a way to resist how he felt. For her sake.

Suddenly, one of the grocery bags fell, the items clattering out against the kitchen floor.

Tohru shrieked, interrupting her song, and turned to the noise. "Kyo-kun! How long have you been standing there?"

Kyo chuckled at her confused and blushing features. "Just got back," he told her.

"Oh! Welcome back!" she greeted with a dopey grin on her face. "I'm almost done cleaning the stove, and then I'll make breakfast! What would you like?"

Tohru turned back around to continue her wiping before she was stopped by Kyo, grabbing her previously moving hand. "You don't have to do all the work," he insisted. "Just tell me how to help, and I will."

Tohru's expression went dazed and blushing again. Kyo was standing right behind her - she could feel him against her back. Wasn't he too close? Wouldn't he transform?

"Kyo-kun…"

Tohru's heart fluttered as he slowly took the towel from her hand and stepped aside to wipe at a stubborn spot of dirt. "I'll get this. You start on breakfast, okay, Tohru?"

Tohru nodded, still blushing, but a smile spread across her lips.
