Corinne sat in the prison library. She usually would read, but most of the books she saw were rather boring to her. She wouldn't usually do this, but she decided that she could at least try to read the news. Politely, she asked the librarian where the newspaper was, and she was pointed to it.

Corinne herself really didn't deserve to be in that prison. It all happened so fast, when her ex husband pinned his crimes onto her. Unfortunately for her this also meant being separated from her son, Bentley. Every day she would think of him and when it was his birthday, she wept, dreading how he was treated.

Corinne was in shock when she read the newspaper article. In big bold letters, it read

COOPER GANG MEMBER IN HOSPITAL!?

She quickly looked at the picture and saw a beat up turtle with glasses. She couldn't deny it, that was her son. She had to go see him.

"Inspector Fox!" She called out. Carmelita ran over as she was making her rounds through prison.

"What is it?" She questioned. "you better not take long, I have to track down ri-"

"My son is in the hospital and I have to see him...please. Let me see Bentley. I want to know that he's okay. I want to see my baby..." she pleaded.

"Miss Wiseturtle...I..." Carmelita hesitated. But then she was reminded of how her own abuela, Josefina, left the world and she didn't even say goodbye. Tears slid down her face, but she quickly cleaned them.

"...I'm gonna arrange that you get released from jail a few weeks earlier. I know you miss your son and...I know you fear losing him." She replied. "Come with me."

Corinne hugged Carmelita and smiled, crying a bit.

"Oh thank you so much Inspector!" She said.

"...you can call me just Carmelita. No need for formalities." Carmelita replied.

The two soon reached the Hospital where Bentley was being held. He was drugged with morphine as to stop the pain, and was also very sleep deprived. He saw two people approaching him and while he wanted to flinch or move away, he couldn't.

"...who...who are you?" Bentley moaned.

"Bentley, I have a guest for you...they wanted to talk to you...I'll give you some space. "

Carmelita exited the room and Bentley felt a hand grab his.

"Oh my poor little baby...I wish I could have done something..." Corinne lamented.

"It's...not your fault...an...owl's beak...slammed on me..." Bentley replied. "...how...do you know me?"

Corinne placed her hand on his shoulder.

"I'm your mother...I was taken away from you..." she lamented. Bentley was shocked, but he was too dazed and sleep deprived to express it. Corinne stroked his face and gave him a warm embrace. Bentley soon began to tell her all of his adventures with Sly and Murray, at least the best he could. Then a surge of pain hit him. He was about to call the nurses but Corinne knew if he took too much of the morphine it could harm him.

"Bentley, hold my hands...put your attention to me and me only...I used to sing this old song to you before you hatched..." Corinne took a deep breath.

"Look at the stars, my darling baby boy

Life is strange and vast

Filled with wonder and joy

Face each new sun

With eyes clear and true

Unafraid of the unknown,

Because I'll face it all with you..."

Bentley was definitely calmer, and slowly drifting off. Corinne took off his glasses and put them in the night stand. As she suspected, his eyes were slowly closing. Corinne got out a blanket she bought earlier and put it on him.

"M...mom...?" Bentley said.

"Yes dear?" Corinne asked.

"...I love you...and thanks for coming to see me..." he replied with a big yawn. Corinne began petting him so he would fall asleep, humming softly. She gave him a kiss on his cheek, and opted to stay to make sure he would be okay.
