Regina stood there in silence. The blonde in front of her seemed to freeze like the air around them.

It was scary, really, to see things like this. The night was supposed to be different. They were supposed to find Henry and Archie and then go back to how they had been previous to all of this.

But now things were different, and they both knew that at this moment, nothing would ever be the same between them.

Nothing.

Regina had shown Emma a part of her she had never shown anyone else. She hadn't meant to, it had just…happened.

"He's our son." Emma whispered, almost inaudibly.

Regina wanted to say 'no'. To tell Emma that he wasn't hers, that he wasn't going to have anything to do with her, but a part of her knew that the blonde was right.

Henry wasn't just Regina's anymore, he never really had been. He was their's.

"I know." Regina replied, somehow managing to sound quieter than Emma, smaller.

No longer the 'evil' mayor everyone claimed her to be, but instead a hurt mother that just wanted her son back, and maybe a little more than that.

Emma saw that in her, she saw the real Regina, and in this moment, she couldn't believe that she'd never seen it before. That under all that hard-ass, she was actually just hiding. Hiding from the truth, hiding from herself.

And in this moment, Emma didn't care about what had happened in their past, and she didn't care about what would happen in their future, she just cared about right now.

Because right now there was a vulnerable Regina standing in front of her and Emma wanted more than anything just to help.

It wasn't just about Henry now, it was about Regina too. It was about all of them.

They hadn't noticed the space between them closing, and they hadn't noticed how both of their hearts started to speed up.

They didn't notice until their lips were pressed together and their hearts were beating together.
