After a year and two months, I'm back writing fan fictions again. My sister and I are now in the DGM fandom, and apparently, she likes Allen/Lenalee. So this is something for her, I guess. The particular story I'm not too proud of, probably because my writing is still rusty after all these months. Anyway, hope you enjoy this! If there's any errors, feel free to tell me.
Just for him (citatsce)
Allen Walker is beautiful.
His broad shoulders, his soft white hair (and the golden streaks from the light of the evening sun), his long, slender fingers covered by pristine white gloves, the blood-red scar of an inverted star that traces down his left eye and cheek against his fair skin. It's almost exotic, strange, but to Lenalee, it's beautiful.
She loves him.
And Lenalee knows her love for Allen Walker is hopeless.
Because, quite frankly, Allen loves everyone (except a certain abrasive red-head and his addiction to alcohol, but that was beside the point). Allen loves the humans and loves the Akuma; he befriends the entire Science Department in less than a week and even made Kanda Yuu warm up to him a little (emphasis on little).
Sometimes, Lenalee wonders if there's any room left in his heart for her.
But of course, Allen loves Lenalee too. As a friend. Yet the thoughts of her and Allen having something more invade her head countless more times when she accidentally locks into his gray-colored eyes (and she cannot do anything but fall into the dark depths that caught her attention since Day One). It's stupid. It's silly.
It's just a crush, Lenalee realizes, but it feels strange when her heart beat quickens and heat rushes to her cheeks. ('Isn't it normal to have a little crush?' Lavi laughs out loud when Lenalee expresses her concern about her feelings.)
But since when were their lives ever normal?
Sometimes, on the days where she isn't fighting Akuma, Lenalee Lee wonders what it would be like if they didn't have their Innocence or the burden of defeating the Earl (what it was like if their lives were normal). Maybe they wouldn't all have to risk their lives all the time, maybe her brother wouldn't be so busy trying to maintain the headquarters 24/7. (Maybe Allen would stop thinking about the Noah and the Akuma, actually listen to his hormones, drag Lenalee by the hand into an empty hall and press his lips against…)
Lenalee mentally slaps herself. They were in a war, for God's sake! They didn't have the luxury to be normal and get mushy with Love. Her crush on Allen does not make her Dark Boots stronger for fighting. Her little dreams and fantasies of having a relationship do not make the Earl disappear.
And it definitely doesn't do anything to help bring back Allen's true smiles again.
In the midst of the war and bloodshed, Allen is slowly falling apart. The 14th Noah, Mana, the Disappearance of Cross, everything. Everything. The weight of it all has started to take quite a burden on him. The idealistic, young Allen Walker who first stepped on the Black Order's doorstep was not inside him anymore. True smiles are turned into fake, empty ones. Eyes that were brimming with clear determination are now dull.
What he needed right now was a friend. Not someone who had unrequited feelings.
And so, when Lenalee sees him alone in a hallway, staring at the reflection of himself in the mirror, she pushes all of her feelings into the back corner and walks up to him.
A friend. She'll be his friend.
(Because Lenalee knows her love for Allen Walker is hopeless.)
'Allen!'
(She'll be a friend.
Just for him.)
Fin.
