The challenge word this week is Cube and here it's applied to Vinchenzo Natali's psychological horror film of the same name. I figured it'd be one Dean might be drawn to...or maybe not! Check the end notes for explanations. Some spoilers for Season 8. Two hundred words on the nose. Enjoy!

Dean jolted upright hitting freeze frame as the image of the prisoner, Alderson, sliced into pieces by the wire grid in his 'Cube' cell threatened to burn-in to the delicate plasma of their new flat screen TV.

"Man, I thought you wanted to watch this?"

Sam spluttered through a mouthful of butterscotch popcorn, the latest offering in Dean's newly awakened culinary skills.

"Yeah I did, it got really good reviews..."

Dean pulled his newly acquired dressing gown tighter about him, shivering slightly despite the warmth of the bunker.

"Not any more though...that dude..."

He gestured at the cadaverous actor on screen.

"He reminds me of someone, kinda creeps me out!"

Sam raised an eyebrow in surprise as he shoveled in more popcorn.

"It's only a movie, bro."

"I know."

Dean mumbled defensively as he rummaged in the stack of DVDs he had returned from the last supply run with.

"How 'bout this one, Sammy?"

He held up the disc to his brother, his 'own-room' smile re-established on his face. Sam grinned indulgently.

"Sure, Dean, whatever you want."

Dean settled back onto their sofa as 'Kung Fu Panda' replaced 'Cube' and Dean passed the popcorn to Sam.

In 'Cube' the prisoner, Alderson, was played by English actor, Julian Richings, who played 'Death' in Supernatural! It seemed too sweet a coincidence to miss.

Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading.
