Chapter One
As the sun came up over Princeton New Jersey Doctor Gregory House sat at his piano having spent the last eight hours trying to get a melody out of his head that just would not go away. It had started with just one note and then as the night progressed a steady rhythm began to build within the brilliant man's unconscious pushing the mere idea of sleep out of his mind entirely. When the music had finally made its way through to his fingers and onto the piano morning had already started to break over the Garden State but the diagnostician was on such a natural high from letting his creative juices flow that the mere idea of sleep was the furthest thing from his mind…that is until now. House began to sway slightly as his eyelids threatened to close on him at any moment. Stretching, the diagnostician took the hint and slowly got up from the piano bench but the sight of his audio recorder resting on top of the 88 keys called him back.
I have to listen to it one more time. I have to know its right
Pressing play, House succumbed to temptation and let the beautiful melody of the night before flow through the walls of his apartment causing an unmistakable feeling of ease take over as he limped over to the couch and finally fell asleep. No sooner had House closed his eyes when the phone rang but in typical fashion he chose to ignore it letting the answering machine pick up.
You've reached the mail box of Dr. Gregory House, if you'd like to have your message ignored and then erased from my machine then go ahead I could care less…beep
"House pick up. We've got a case. I think your going to like this one…"
Fortunately, by the time Chase had hung up his boss had already rose from the couch, grabbed his jacket and limped out the door curious as to what new mysterious illness had captivated his colleague's attention.
Despite his sleep deprived state, House couldn't resist the possibility of a new mystery to solve.
Some things never change…..
