It was the image of her back disappearing that triggered it, the thoughts that cemented it.

He is not as brave as he may seem.

It is his situation that makes him strong, his brother that makes him weak.

Were it not for Michael, he would have traded his life for his brother's spotless criminal record. Had he not robbed a bank, he would have endured his execution because it was the only way to let his family live in peace, not cause the death of his son's mother.

He only fights for his freedom because his captivity was wrongly forced by the damn Company that killed his father and Veronica.

He only fights for his freedom because Terrence Steadmen did not snitch on his beloved sister, the ex-president Caroline Reynolds.

He only fights for his freedom because, just as Caroline Reynolds decided to help them, she resigned.

He only fights for his freedom because he wants to save himself and his small, dysfunctional family, that is constantly thrown for a loop, one way or the other.

He only fights for his freedom because it is the only way he knows to be the heroic coward that he is.
