Extended Ending to Season 1, ep. 3, "Jonathan Hart, Jr."

After they said good-bye to Jonathan and Connie, the Harts and Max went inside and got ready for dinner.

"What should I make you two to eat?" Jonathan looked at his old friend, and took his wife's hand.

"I'm not really hungry tonight, Max. What would you like, Darling?"Jennifer gave Jonathan a weak smile.

"I'm not very hungry, either." She looked at Max apologetically. "Why don't you make whatever you'd like tonight, Max." He nodded.

"Got it. A whole lotta nothing coming right up." Max disappeared through the swinging door.

Jennifer led her husband to the couch. As she sat, she wrapped her arms around Jonathan. Placing a kiss by his ear, she whispered, "Talk to me." He held on to her arms and heaved a sigh that told her how heavy his heart was.

"I meant what I told Jonathan in that story last night, Darling. I do love him." He felt the light kiss in his hair. "I love you too."

"I know you do. So, what's troubling you about all of that?"

"I never imagined that my past would collide so personally with my present."

"Jonathan, we both knew other people before we met." He sat up and turned to look at her, his life, and all the understanding in her eyes almost undid him.

"I know the boy wasn't mine." He looked at her pointedly, "and I know that I don't have any children out there." He ran his thumb over her cheek. "You just accepted him. You never even questioned it." She cupped his cheek in her hand.

"Darling, I love you." He nodded slightly, and she smiled at him. "It's that simple." He took her hand and kissed her fingertips.

"What about us?" Jennifer gave him a quizzical look.

"What about us?"

"We've never really talked about having children."

"Oh."

"Have you thought about it?"

"Yes. Quite a bit more since we got married. Have you?"

"You're the only woman I've ever imagined carrying my child." She placed a sweet kiss on his lips. "What are your thoughts?"

"I guess I just figured that if it happened, it happened." He smiled, loving that they were so in stune with each other.

"That's what I thought too." She smiled gently at him.

"You would make a wonderful dad." He leaned in and kissed her.

"You would make an amazing mom." She couldn't help but laugh.

"I already feel like a mom. I have Max and Freeway." Jonathan laughed with her and they walked arm in arm upstairs for the night.
