Author's Note: I know that according to canon, Finnick and Annie have a boy. But my friend gave me a prompt that I was really excited about, and this is the result. I hope you all enjoy it, and please let me know if you find any mistake. Please review!

Baby

"She's precious," the doctor gushed. "And those eyes, just like her father's." Annie really wished the doctor hadn't said that; she was sad enough without another reminder that Finnick wasn't here to see their baby girl. She hugged the little bundle of blankets close to her chest as both of them cried. "What are you naming her?"

To be honest, Annie hadn't given it a whole lot of thought. She knew she wanted to name her little girl after Finnick, but Finn was too close and she couldn't think of anything else. She just wanted him here next her, holding his daughter. He would have found a great name. She could name her after her mother, she thought. That was how she met Finnick, but it wasn't a very happy day.

It was raining buckets, not unusual for District 4 in the summer time. It always poured for ten or fifteen minutes before letting up, and usually Annie loved the rain. Not that day though. She had just run out of the hospital and, upon first instinct, down to the beach. They had done everything they could to save her, but she was too sick and the medicine was becoming too expensive. That was the day her mother died.

Annie lay down in the wet sand, not caring that she would ruin her school clothes and that the rain made her shiver. Tears flowed out the corners of her eyes and down the side of her face, into her hair. The rain would let up soon and the sun would come out, giving her more the reason to stay. It was better than going home to her aunt that ignored her and her uncle who hit her.

"Are you sleeping?" a voice asked, startling Annie. She sat up and rubbed her eyes, realizing it was that boy Finnick Odair talking. She recognized him from school; he was in the grade above her.

"No."

"Oh, you're that Cresta girl. I'm sorry about your mom," he told her as he sat down next to her. Geez, how did he know about that already? "Our mothers went to school together. She found out like an hour ago," he explained. An hour ago? How long had she been at the beach? "You'll see her again, don't worry."

How would she see her mother again? She was dead. D-E-A-D. Dead. Gone. Forever.

"She's at the bottom of the ocean," he went on to say.

Annie raised her eyebrow, "How is she at the bottom of the ocean?"

"You can always find the things you've lost at the bottom of the ocean. That's why you'll get to see her… when you're lost, you'll go to the bottom of the ocean."

"Excuse me, miss, do you have a name?"

"Oceana."

Because Finnick was waiting for her at the bottom of the ocean.
