Haha! Another one-shot! Reading my other one-shot about Zane's thoughts really got me thinking as to what Lewis might have thought of Cleo as a new mermaid. And this story was born!

Lewis POV

Years.

Whenever I think of Cleo's phobia to water, that's the only word that comes to me. For as long as I've known her she's been terrified of water that's deep enough for head to go under.

When I first found out I told her, like everyone else had probably told her, that if she learned to swim, she wouldn't be afraid. By that time, however, she had been afraid for so long that getting her near water was almost impossible.

When she first became a mermaid, I know her paranoia shot through the roof. Making her avoid all kinds of water was a step in the wrong direction.

Facing her fear was definitely the best thing she could have done, I'm glad she did it by her own decision and not because of the pressuring of Emma and Rikki.

I don't know whether becoming a mermaid gave you amazing swimming powers or what, but Cleo had nothing to worry about. As soon as she hit the water, it was like she was born swimming, not scared of it her entire life.

And after getting used to the feeling of being in the water after a few weeks, she was swimming in races against Emma and Rikki, sometimes even beating them, or so she told me.

Watching her now, racing into the water with her 'sisters', seeing her laugh and watching her tail resurface to slap the water; I can't help but laugh and think…

Maybe she was meant to be a mermaid all along…
