Why?
A/N: To Alicia who was right... I admit I was wrong.. Lol.
Draco looked at his headmaster, eyes filled with loathing. No, nothing could stop him now. He had Dumbledore... right there.
So why wasn't he shouting the killing curse already?
His wand hand, trembling with slight fear, lowered a little bit. Weakened Dumbledore simply blinked.
This was his mission... His job. The Dark Lord had... trusted him to do it. Finish off the only thing stopping him from murdering Harry Potter.
So why had he just lowered his wand?
There was no way Dumbledore could escape him. He had him.. right there. Unarmed... Weakened...
But still had the twinkle in his eye. He knew. Draco became panicked, but then calmed down. He could do this... He would be praised far above anyone! His father, Snape, his mother, and even Bellatrix!
So why did Dumbledore's words affect him?
It was true... He was thinking of all the bad things that could come from this... mission his Lord had sent him on.
Yes, Voldemort was his Master. His Master who had him catch Dumbledore to kill him. Which was exactly what he should be doing right... about... now...
So why wasn't he?
He heard loud noises.. People would be coming soon. Death Eaters... Ministry workers... And even Order members. He could get Dumbledore out... No worries.
So why was Snape pushing him out of the way?
He had got them this far... Besides, it was the right thing to do. Voldemort wouldn't be stopped!
Potter would be killed... It was a perfect plan.
So why did he feel regret for his plans, hatred towards Snape, and... Sadness?
Dumbledore was gone! His Master would have Death Eaters praise him, too! Snape might even be the source of Voldemort's wrath for killing Dumbledore when Draco was ordered to!
So why did his eyes fill with unshed tears at looking at his dead headmaster?
Dumbledore had told him... Narcissa and Draco would have been safe from Voldemort if they had gone to the Light Side...
No harm. Dumbledore would have kept them entirely safe.
So why didn't he listen?
