{AN: This story was originally on my other account, but I took it off and put it on this one. I hope you like it!}
'George!'
My head whipped around as I heard Fred's voice. I tried to call back, but my throat was raw and it came out as a low croak in my throat. I pushed my wet ginger hair out of my eyes and I rushed instinctively towards him.
And it was like an emotional blow to the chest when I saw him. Towering on top of Fred was a pile of bricks which had presumably been a wall. Blood was pouring from his temples, contrasting his pale skin. 'G-Georg... George.' My knees buckled as I stumbled and grasped his hand. 'Fred- Fred... stay with me- please.' A single tear trailed down my cheek. 'Fred, don't go.'
He smiled. 'I'm okay, I'm okay..' He choked, dribbling blood down his bruised chin. 'Go to mum and dad. You can't stay- they'll kill you. He jerked his head towards the approaching Death Eaters.
'No! No, I'm not leaving you Fred. Listen, we have to get you to McGonagoll, or, or Harry, they can help you-'
'George.' Fred smiled and urgently spoke to me. 'I can't. I'm dying, George. I don't want you to get hurt. I'm dying. There is nothing you can do.' His head jerked back onto the floor, and he relaxed. 'Goodbye, Georgey. I love you. He breathed out.
'Freddy-' I faltered. The light had left his brown eyes and his grip on my wrist slackened. I placed my fingertips on Fred's eyelids and shut them gently. He could be sleeping.
Suddenly, hands wrapped around me from behind. The masked figured whipped off their Death Eater roves and George was staring into the eyes of Kingsley, Lupin, Tonks and Mundungus. Tonks held out her hand. 'C'mon, George. We can't stay here. Its not safe.'
'No, no, I can't leave him. We have to get someone to bring him to mum- please, please- I can't leave him!'
Kingsley led him away firmly. 'We can't go back. Lupin- inform Molly and Arthur their boy has been killed. They have to know- immediately. George, come with me.' He took me by a firm grasp and dragged me away.
'Fred!' A scream ripped from my throat. 'Don't leave me- please- be alive!' My hand slid away from Fred's cold fingertips and a sob rose in my throat.
'I...I-I love you...'
