summary Zuko needs to learn that Katara doesn't hate him all the time. Short scene, pre-SR.
She sits next to him at dinner. It's extremely strange and awkward for him. He almost forgets how to breathe.
"You got something on your face," she tells him with a slight frown.
A twang in his gut tells him that she's just trying to bait him, make fun of his scar. So his mouth puckers and he nods, "Right."
She rolls her eyes and reaches out towards his face. He freezes, wondering if she's going to slap him, if she's going to artfully slice off the offending side of his face.
But her fingers instead brush against the left corner of his bottom lip. It lasts only a second, a simple second. And when she pulls her hand away, he feels as if she's taken something of his with it.
"Noodles," she muses as she looks at her finger. She shrugs and jumps up and heads towards her brother.
It's after she leaves that he realises how to breathe again.
