After The Sunset
"Sabrina, you have been sent here for the request of marrying a mortal." The head of the witches' council said to me.
"Yes, of course." I smiled, holding Harvey's hand.
"I regret to tell you, that no witch is allowed to marry a mortal and keep their powers, at least, not anymore." He smirked down at me, I should have known, he'd hated me since I was a teenager, why would he stop trying to ruin my life now?
"But you were going to allow me to marry Aaron, and he didn't even know I was a witch." I answered, scrunching my nose in confusion.
"That was before the bill was passed, and now, no witch may marry a mortal. Witch powers will stay with those who have them. However, you may give up your powers to marry him if you like."
I looked over at Harvey, he looked freaked out too, and nodded as though saying if I didn't give them up, it'd be okay. He's still love me.
"Can I have a while to think about it?" I questioned.
"Two hours." He stated before slamming the gavel down and sending us back to my aunts' house.
"I can not believe that man! He is so vile; I can't believe I ever wanted to date him!" Aunt Hilda yelled.
"Sabrina, honey, what're you going to do?" Zelda asked, still being the practical one of the two, as always.
"I don't know! I mean, I love them both. And how can they make me decide between the two!" I screeched plopping myself down onto a dining table chair, and sighing.
"Honey, you don't have to give up anything for me." Harvey stated, saying the first words since the head had given me the decision "We can still be dating, it'll be okay."
The toaster popped up just then, and Hilda grabbed the paper before clenching it in her fists and looking the maddest I'd ever seen her. "I can not believe this!" She uttered again, for about the thousandth time since we'd gotten back.
"What?" I asked taking the paper from her and taking it from her.
Oh, just in case I forgot, it's either Harvey or the powers. No in between, no dating him with the powers, nothing. Sorry…hahaha!
"I HATE HIM!" I yelled into the air, although I already knew what I was going to do.
I threw the paper onto the ground behind me and went upstairs, Harvey following. I opened the laundry closet door, and was about to go in when I realized Harvey would follow me; I didn't want him to sway my decision.
"Harvey, I'm sorry, but could you stay here?" I asked.
He looked dumbstruck, but said "Yeah, sure, I'll be here. No problem."
He disappeared down the stairs probably thinking I was going to pick the magic. I sighed, silly boy, still doubting himself after all this time. After shutting the door, I showed up in the council moments later.
"I know you all expect me to give up Harvey, but I love him, and if you really wanted to make the witch community happy, you wouldn't give people like me this decision. However, I choose to have my powers taken away, because, Harvey is more important than them, any day." I stated walking over to the head.
"Very well." He produced a small can and pointed at my finger, while a slim blue light trail went from my finger into the can.
After it was all done he bent his head toward mine and whispered "I expected nothing less from you." And smiled, and then sent me home.
When I got back, I immediately went to Harvey and kissed him, and told him everything I'd done, and he smiled.
I guess true love does conquer everything else in the end, I remembered thinking to myself as Harvey spun me around and kissed me, still smiling.
