"A Coversation with George and Slim: The end of the book"
Something I wrote for school, but it's interesting anyway.

"You hadda George! I swear you hadda. Come on with me."
I hear Slims voice echo in my ears, and I follow. Not much else I could do.
Except follow. So I do. And we walk along the unpaved path that will eventually lead us
in to town. This is were I had started out, with Lennie, when we came to the ranch. The
God-forsaken ranch, that lead us both to the end of our roads. Yes, It was over in my
mind. I will become just another man on a ranch, with just another average life, living
and walking alone. Always alone. But it's not like I couldn't do it! It would just take some time getting used to.
"Slim?" I almost whisper.
"Yeah." He replies.
"I can't kill Curley, too. Can I?"
He chuckled bitterly, " 'Spose not."
I sighed. Have I lost my mind? Asking a question like that. The worst part of it is,
a part Of me actually asked that question and wanted an answer. A real answer. Slim
looked at me, but I kept my eyes on the dirt road, making sure my hat covered my face.
He seemed to realize that I may have been serious, "Don't you worry George.
He'll get his. It may be awhile, and you may not see it. But he'll get what he deserves."
Slim looked at the ground, deep in thought.
"Sure 'e will."
Suddenly my stomach turned. All of this was too much for me. Lennie made me
soft at heart. I ran over to the edge of the road and heaved anything I had in my stomach
out. Slim stood where he was, and looked away. I quickly stood back up and let every
thing go. In one big shout I let all my curses towards this cruel world, and equally cruel
man kind. I think I may have even scared Slim, but I don't care.
Then, as if I just lost my voice, I whispered, "Why, Lennie? Why?"
"Lets go." Slim stated rather coldly.
So we continued to walk, both of us ignoring my previous little fit.
"Hey, George."
"What?"
"Tell me about the rabbits." At this point I almost replied. I quickly turned to
Slim.
"What?" I asked, my anger quickly gaining at the sick joke. I could have sworn he
was more mature then that.
"Huh? I di'n't say nothin." He replied dully, "You are starting to hallucinate
George. I think you need a good drink. Come on." He started to walk again and waved
me over to him when I didn't come. What in hells name just happened? I quicken my
pace, so even Slim had to struggle to keep up with me. But he didn't complain. I figured
he wouldn't.
We had been traveling over an hour and a half before I saw the busy body little
town. Ah, the wonderful memories. Heh.
"Where are we going George?" It was Lennie again.
It was just the memories that were running through my head.
So this time, I didn't reply.
