Panem et Circenses- A History of Panem
Dear Reader,
We all know the tales of the 74th Hunger Games. How Miss. Everdeen and Mr. Melark came out of the arena together as the first duo to ever survive together. How Mr. Melark expressed his love for Miss. Everdeen allowing them both to live while 22 others perished in the forest walls of the arena. How they moved the country to a point of rebellion, and brought chaos throughout the country, resulting in the freedom of the District's from the Capitol.
What you may not know, however, is how our insufferable country came to exist. Few know the truth behind the lies and deception we fed our citizens. I am the last living Keeper. The Keepers were assigned decades ago by our countries founders to remain above the ignorance of our neighbors. I alone know the story of our country.
I grow older each and every day, and I feel my strength diminish even as I write this letter for you to find. The weight of the knowledge I keep has aged me dearly. I have not been able to tell a single soul about what I know, and now I must break the silence. People have been ignorant of what they should know for too long.
Enclosed in this parcel is a series of documents. Each one are letters, diaries, documents, written interactions, and many others that all add up to be our roots. I must ask that once you have examined each on thoroughly, that you pass it on and share it. People must know the truth. I each document has comments made by past Keepers as well as myself throughout the collection. You are now the last honorary Keeper as if you have received this, I am dead. I wish you luck, and may God watch over your soul.
-Hypak Daund
District 3- Keeper 17
