Disclaimer: I DO own CSI. LOL, joke. I wish I did.
I want to thank everyone who reads and/or reviews my stories. I do mean to reply to reviews but I've been really lazy lately so I never do. Thank you all so much. I know I'm not the best writer but, when I'm in the mood, it keeps me occupied.
The Wait
Tick… Tock… Tick… Tock….
Waiting for something is the worst.
Time goes by so slowly.
Each second feels like a lifetime.
"What time is it?" she asks, pacing the floor nervously.
He smiles but he feels just as nervous as his wife.
"About twenty seconds later than the last time you asked?"
Her eyes dart towards him then towards the bathroom.
"Your watch is wrong. It's been well over two minutes."
"Sara, it's been about fifty seconds. Calm down."
"I can't calm down." she says. "This is driving me mad. I'm going in…"
She takes one huge step towards the bathroom door before she's stopped.
"No." he says, gently taking hold of her arm. "Just wait one more minute."
Sara turns and takes a deep breath. She lifts her arms around her husbands neck and sighs shakily.
"Kiss me." she whispers. "To pass the time, just kiss me."
He gives here a lopsided smile, the one she's loved since they met, and he slowly leans in to kiss her.
Their mouths meet in a soft kiss, then another and another, deepening with each supple touch, and she feels his love engulfing her; warming her right down to her toes.
Pulling away she smiles. "What time is it?"
Lifting his arm he looks at his watch and sighs. "It's time."
For a split second Sara doesn't move but then she takes a deep and shakey breath and takes a slow step towards the bathroom.
"Sara, if it's negative..."
She drops her eyes to cream coloured carpet.
"I know..." she whispers. "It's not the end of the world, we can just keep trying; keep hoping."
"Hey," he lifts her face so that she's looking at him. "You do know that even if we never have a baby that my love for you will never change, don't you? My love will only grow for you, Sara."
"I know, its just that... I'd love a child with you but I don't know how many more let downs I can take. First the miscarriage, then three false alarms..."
"Come on, let's get this over with; find out one way or the other." he whispers and he squeezes her hand supportively.
They make their way into the light bathroom and over to the sink where the pregnancy test lies dace down. Sara reaches out to to pick it up but just as the tips her fingers touch it she pulls back.
"Sara?"
With another deep breath she quickly takes it between her fingers and turns it over.
"I'm pregnant."
You're pregnant."
They gasp in unison.
Turning to face eachother, both with tears of joy in their eyes, Sara allows some of hers to spill over as she practically leaps into her husbands arms. She feels his arms encircling her and for the first time in months she feels like things are finally going to work out.
He pulls away from just enough to rest his hand on her flat stomach.
"We're going to have a baby." he whispers.
He places a feather light kiss to her cheek and move his mouth round to hers.
"Oh God, I love you." she cries against his lips.
"Honey, I love you too."
Once again, standing in the middle of the bathroom, their mouths meet and they fall deeply into a fresh and fierce kiss.
THE END
