"Thankyou" Buri whispered timidly, refusing to maintain eye contact with me, as I walked her to her chambers in the Rider Barracks.
"What am I being thanked for?" I asked, intrigued by her tone.
"If you hadn't pretended to be my betrothed, my brother would have forced me to return to Sarain," she replied, lips quivering. As we arrived at her door I grabbed her arm and spun her around to face me.
"I know you would have done the same for me," I replied before placing a sweet, chaste kiss upon her lips and hurriedly returning to my chambers.
