So I kind of wrote this as a sequel to Remember. I think Declan would feel really guilty after finding out , and possibly not believing her, so I wrote this. This whole stroy is practically based on my hopes of Declan finding out about Fiona and Bobby when he asks "Did you do this to my sister" in the promo. Reviews would be appreciated, and thanks so much for the reviews on my last story. These are also based off the short summaries for "What A Girl Wants" and "Breakaway" which Much Music posted.
He's angry, so,so angry. He's not sure who he's more furious with, Bobby or himself. Bobby for having the, the... the audacity of doing this to his sister. Or himself, for being so stupid, for ignoring his twins cries for help. He briefly remembered when Fiona walked into his room, when they lived together in New York, quiet, and sat on his bed. She hesitated for a moment before speaking, and pulling up the sleeve of her shirt. She had a large black and purple bruise on her arm.
"Bobby has anger issues Declan, and he's taking them out on me" she said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Declan was skeptical, remembering the stunt she pulled when he was first here in New York, Holly J by his side. His first thought was she was seeking attention, and just being dramatic again.
"You promised no more drama" he said to her sternly, his eyes cold and unbelieving. He thinks if he could go back in time, he would have strangled himself for being so clueless. She had come to him for help, with proof and all, and he blew it off as her being overly-dramatic. Every time he has a flashback of this moment, he mentally kicks himself for being such an ass. But that's not the worst of it. Bruises on her arm were just the beginning of something much more serious.
She comes home a few days later, and goes straight upstairs, to the bathroom. She doesn't come out for a few hours, and when she does, her face is caked in makeup. When he asks, she simply tells him she wanted to test out the new makeup she bought , and he thinks nothing of it. He wishes he'd probed a little further, wishes he hadn't been oblivious. He wishes he'd listened the first time, and thinks he could have prevented this whole situation from happening.
The next day, he finds her on the stairs of the school, halfway down. Bobby is on the same step, pulling her to her feet. He lloks at Declan and shrugs, the picture of innocence. It wouldn't be until a couple weeks later that he would find out from a witness that Bobby had pushed her. Fiona had simply shrugged it off as her tripping down the stairs.
The last day (that Declan will seeher for quite a while, though he doesn't know it), she has a breakdown at lunch, after Bobby pulls her close. She visibly winces when he grabs her. She runs away, hands clutching her head . She ran off campus, and drove home. When Declan came home that day, he went to her room, prepared to give a scathing accusation, but she was gone. The window was open, her drawer containing her savings, gone, and her closet full of clothes, practically Fiona.
He walks over to her bed in awe, where she had slept only a night ago. And now, the unmade bed and furnitrue was the only sight that reminded him she had been here only one day ago. But she had left. No note, no goodbye, puts the pieces together slowly, then. The way she winces, why she always had so much makeup on, and why Bobby was there with her on the feels the guilt eat away at him, like a worm eating an apple's core. And he shatters, like a dam. He weeps at the bitter emptiness of her room, mimicing the feeling he has witin him, with his twin gone from his life. Empty.
