Lets get right into it, then. By the way, this is seventh year.
Lily Evans didn't understand James Potter. But she did notice a few things about him that made her curious. Like when they had fights, for instance, the days after he would shove his sleeves over his wrists or hide them in his lap. Also, she noticed that the Marauders stopped pranking, and seemed sad and depressed. Finally, Lily confronted James.
"Oi, Potter!" she yelled at him. He took a big breath and turned to face her. He looked like he ha been crying, and she noticed a crimson streak down a hand. "It's James, Lily, my name," he said quiet softly in a hoarse, broken voice. Lily looked shocked and confused. "What's on your hand, Po-James?" She asked. He hid his arm behind him. "Nothing, Lily." She saw them. The tears. She grabbed his arm firmly and shoved up his sleeve. What she saw made her gasp. "J-James!" She stammered in shock. James had cuts etched down his arm, a deep one still bleeding on his wrist. He ignored her wide emerald eyes and shrugged. "James..." She murmured, grabbing his face and forcing him to look at her. "What the hell happened to you?" He looked down into her bright emerald orbs, his hazel dull, glazed, and hollow. "You." Came the softest of replies. Lily stared at him, tears spilling over her face. "James..." She murmured. "I love you..." James pulled away. "Took you long enough, but your too late Lily. I never dated another girl since I saw you. NEVER! But you continued to yell at me and call me spiteful things like obnoxious and self-glorifying!" He was only whispering, but Lily wished he'd yell. She heard the disappointment and hurt in his soft voice. "I only did those things to try and impress you! Now I just want to curl up and die. Every day was like the cruciatus curse every day! I'd lay in my dorm crying! Remus and Sirius offered to take me to the Hospitial Wing! I cut myself to feel the pain! To feel that I'm still alive, and not as hollow and broken as I feel!" Lily felt like someone had thrown a dagger into her heart as she watched the broken James walk away. Sirius walked up behind her and hugged her in a brotherly way. "James just hurts right now." He soothed the sobbing Lily.
She cursed herself for doing this to James.

not or my best cliffhanger. Good thing they get together in the end. It hurts me to write the marauders this way... More chapters soon. Rave and review. Constructive criticism only please, my first time writing!
