Once upon a time, Gil Grissom was a lonely man living in his hermetically sealed condo.
Then he decided to take in an abandoned animal from a case they had investigated. The neighbors had called in an animal complaint and the uniforms found a malnourished boxer and two bodies that had been dead for approximately four days.
Things were better for a time; loneliness eased somewhat.
But soon, he decided racing cockroaches, spiders and a huge dog were not enough companionship. He needed something more: female of his own species.
There was only one conclusion to his dilemma: Sara Sidle.
