a/n: Uprising has to be the best game I've ever played. I love it so much, it's just amazing. Man I just love everything about this fandom :) and yeah, I obviously don't own Kid Icarus.

( it's my life for yours )

Pit lived for one thing, and one only—his goddess.

Every morning the angel woke up to her smiling face and her melodious songs, so sweet to his ears. He always bowed in response, even if it resulted in an exasperated, yet amused sigh. Pit, I've told you a million times. You don't have to treat me so formally.

Well, I want to, he replied. 'Cause you're the one thing I live for.

He loved her euphonic laugh, soothing like honey, that followed afterwards.

.

Lady Palutena was more than just his goddess; she was his link to the outside world, his anchor to life.

He never stopped trusting her when he soared the endless blue of Skyworld, his wings glowing with her light. She would never fail him, never let him go. Pit knew this even during his first flight—his heart had pounded the first time he had felt land disappear from under his feet, watched the land become a fast green blur down below, but he wasn't scared. Never.

He felt free in the sky, freer than he'd ever been. The horizon beckoned in the distance, the sun calling him. He knew that if he came too close, he would burn up and his wings would catch fire, and he would plummet to the ground, but Pit loved the feeling anyway. He could stretch his whole body out and reach for the stars, or dive down until he was barely skimming the trees down in the world below.

Pit could jump, twirl, pass by a thousand fluffy white clouds. Once he'd accidentally plowed straight into a cloud and burst out, laughing, as it dissolved behind him. He loved feeling the cool, buffeting air on his face, flowing through his hair. The angel even relished the feeling of being torn forward by an air current, tumbling much too quickly, the wind cutting at him like knives.

He didn't care. He was flying, and that was all that mattered.

Flying was everything to him, almost as symbolic as his goddess, who was the one to help him soar in the first place. Clear blue freedom stretched beyond his sight, the whole kingdom of Skyworld at his wingtips.

He knew that with Palutena, he could conquer the entire world if he wanted.

.

He fought for her, fought with his life to protect hers and carry out her divine will.

He knew every time he jumped into battle, it was a gamble of life and death, but he wasn't afraid. Palutena would back him up. Arrows streaked from his bow, his golden tiger claws flashed, his staff twirled with destruction as enemies gathered close and monsters attacked and tried to kill him, but still Pit laughed. He was undefeatable, with Palutena.

The angel would even give up his own life for his goddess. Any day, any time, he would die for her.

.

They were Palutena and Pit, goddess and angel, the best of friends. In a sense, they were family too; they shared a close relationship that couldn't ever be replaced.

But however familiar with his goddess he was, Pit would always serve her with his whole heart, fly for her, fight for her. He could dream, reach for the stars all he wanted, and she'd be right there beside him, pushing him farther and higher.

Lady Palutena was his life.
