What if Raul had written a letter to O.G. demanding to know Christine's whereabouts during her stay with the Phantom? What if, in that letter, he proclaimed his heart was broken without Christine? Here are what might have been Erik's thoughts.

You say you have a broken heart?

Forgive me when I doubt it.

Your heart might have a little bruise

But hope--it still remains lit.

When broken, hearts shall lose all hope

And darkness reigns within.

A broken heart knows sadness

Often comes entwined with sin.

And broken hearts so rarely heal.

More often they just bleed.

Abandoned they shall live alone

Denied of what they need.

Monsieur you don't know broken hearts!

That forte's left to me.

So leave the creature of the night.
