An excerpt from the journal of Remus Lupin.
After all is said and done, we all wish it were different.
They are together, Lily and James, and that is how it should be. They are the perfect pair, really. He is tall, handsome, and athletic, and she is slender, beautiful, and intelligent. When they kissed at their wedding one could almost see the sparks and fireworks going off.
She was my first kiss, and I was hers. We were head-over-heels in love, I still am. She never could say no to anyone. When he had proposed she had looked over at me with her large, emerald, doe-like eyes as if pleading for my help. She had turned back to him and smiled. They had married shortly after that.
They had a son. A perfect little boy named Harry. I saw him twice before that fateful October night. I visited often before Harry was born, but I couldn't bring myself to come by after. He seemed to finalize that she would never be mine again.
I loved her. I still love her, even though she's gone. I always question if she still loved me even after she was married. I'll never know now though, she was murdered many years ago, James was too. He was murdered protecting Lily and Harry from Voldemort and she was murdered protecting Harry. Harry Potter, the boy that lived. Though Voldemort has been defeated by the only one that could, I wish it could have been different. I wish she were mine.
