Leaving the briefing room Rodney quickly caught up with Teyla to ask if they were still going to work on his hand to hand. She was humming quietly to herself when he reached her.

"Teyla, I was just wondering if you were still ok working with me later in hand to hand." He asked wanting to ask what song she was humming.

"Of course Rodney, call me when you aren't busy." She said bowing slightly before she continued walking away humming. It sounded like a soft song.

It was sometime after dinner when Rodney had finished running simulations on one project and was just about to change the parameters and run it again when he remembered his appointment. A half hour later Rodney was regretting his decision, Teyla had masterfully taken him down several times all while humming that same song. Rodney stood motioning for a time out he walked to the bench on the wall and reached for his water bottle. Taking several large sips Rodney worked up the nerve to ask her about the song.

"Not that I mind it or anything, don't get me wrong, but what is the song you've been humming for the past several days?" Toweling off his face Rodney missed the sad smile that crossed the woman's face.

"It is a sleeping song my mother sang to lull my brother and me to sleep when I was much younger. I am just missing home; the melancholy will pass soon enough." Teyla responded sedately shaking herself resolving to get over it. She had seen many of her friends on the mainland having children in the past many seasons it made her wish for a family of her own. Rodney didn't know how to respond to that he wasn't an overly emotional person, but deep down he could understand the sadness Teyla was feeling. They fought for another half hour Rodney doing much better, he had managed to take her down a couple of times. Though if he had to admit it he thought she may have allowed herself to fall. As they left the training room and started going their separate ways Rodney turned back to her.

"Teyla, if you ever want to talk about anything you know where to find me." He said and made a hasty retreat to the transporter. Teyla smiled softly to herself considering the possibilities.

End for now. Had only thought it was going to be a one-shot, but…
