Japanese Penal Code
Article 260
A person who damages a building or vessel of another shall be punished by imprisonment with work for not more than 5 years. If such person thereby causes the death or injury of another, the person shall be dealt with by the punishment prescribed for the crimes of injury or the preceding paragraph, whichever is greater.
"On the two counts of destruction of property, The Court finds the defendant guilty. The subject is hereby sentenced to a fine of two million zenny, and two years imprisonment. Due to the subject's age, this term will be suspended, though the fine remains intact. The subject will remain in contact and will be required to register with the Offender's Registry program. For the next three months, the subject will wear a monitoring bracelet and is expressly forbidden to Wave Change."
The courtroom fell silent, save for the scribbling of pens, the clacking of keyboards, and the clicking of old fashioned cameras.
The head judge wagged his finger at the young offender, his face stern. "You're very lucky, kid. I was highly inclined to have you deported. Keep your nose clean, or the sentence will apply."
The prosecutor slid a black binder into her messenger bag, then zipped it. She held the bag's strap in hand and stared at the judge.
Across the room, behind the defense bench, the attorney took a long drink from a red water bottle - the only colorful item in the courtroom.
Flanked by two police, seated in front of the defense bench, Alex nodded.
"Court is now adjourned."
