Journal Entry Number 1.

They call me Joker.

I had it all.

The looks, the money and a dream until that dream was destroyed when Batman decided to send me flying into a vat full of chemicals. Isn't that illegal you may ask? Why isn't he in jail? He sounds like the true criminal! Well, yes it is illegal to take the law into your own hands and assault every crook and super criminal but that's the funny thing about life. It's unfair.

I am a killer.

I am a magician.

I can take your life and make it disappear right before your eyes.

Darkness is my second best friend, the first is death.

I am not a monster.

I am an artist.

Batman likes to think he is normal but the thing is I don't believe in normal. No one has the perfect life, life screws us all over even a child could tell you that. Society is to blame and the system is set up for you to fail. You cannot have a good home, a good education or even a good life! People will lie to you and tell you to be positive but you will always be reminded that you do not belong, you will forever be challenged by this sick joke of life.

I consider Batman a monster.

Unlike you, I will confront my monsters.

I will ask them why are they torturing me, why are they causing me pain?

I feel so lonely here in Arkham Asylum like there isn't anyone in this world who understands me except him and I don't even know who "he" is under the mask.

The world would be a happier place without me. I have no one to share my secrets with, I don't want to be laughed at.

I'm not afraid to be seen or judged, I am who I am. Look at me… I want you to look at me.

I will not change because there is nothing wrong with me.

I shouldn't have to change in order to "fit in" with a society that was made to fail from the very start.

I am broken.

I want to break you too.

It makes me feel alive.

I know I am cruel but that is okay, you deserve it.

My psychiatrist Dr. Quinzel asked me to compile a series of questions for our session next Thursday.

My question to her is "Are you brave enough to look into the darkness?"
