Welcome! This is my new SmoshGames fanfiction that I've started (yes, I will be finishing the others soonish) and this time, the crew become adventurers! Like, actual adventurers from Dungeons and Dragons.
NOW, if you have never heard of Dungeons and Dragons, I'm afraid that you aren't going to understand the references and storyline throughout this fanfiction, but that's what Google is for!
Anyway, enough about me being a boring old sod, and on to the very short prologue! :D (reviews would be nice)
"So, how do you play this again?" Sohinki refrained from giving a frustrated sigh and instead put on a fake smile and began explaining the rules once again to Mari. David began snickering behind his hand, yet she refused to blush, and Joshua simply leaned back in his leather chair with his hands behind his head.
The four old friends had decided to meet up during one of their work holidays, having nothing better to do; well, maybe they did, but it had been a while since they had seen each other.
Originally, it was just going to be Matt, David and Joshua, like many of the other nights like this, but Matt insisted that Mari be invited. Practically everyone knew about his crush except the girl herself; they had a good laugh about it sometimes, but they never actually told her.
"You shouldn't make fun of her just because she doesn't know how to play D&D," chastised Josh, leaning towards the board.
"What? I'm not making fun of her." David rolled around some of the dice in his hand, dropping them onto the board again and again. Mari pointed to a figurine on the board, knocking it over in the process as she asked a question. Sohinki went to pick it up; went to, not did.
Something strange was permeating the air, and they all sensed it. Tensing up, they tried to pull away from the board, but found themselves stuck.
"Uh, guys... Help?" gulped Joshua, seeing the air begin to waver around the center. The atmosphere crackled like lightning, and the room darkened considerably as if night had suddenly fallen. All of them became increasingly more scared and panicked as this went on.
"Is this like Paranormal Activity, because I am not down with that shit!" swore David loudly over the sound of howling wind.
Something was forming over the board, and bitter cold was now screaming around them, making the friends shiver and chatter their teeth.
A pair of figures had begun to float above their hands, shining brightly in the eclipse of darkness. They were recognizable by the three men easily, simply because of the books that they owned; a Planetar Celestial with huge feathered wings, a sharp beak and glittering emerald skin, and a Solar Celestial, standing even taller than the previous and holding dark topaz eyes that made them shrink in insignificance.
"You have been chosen," boomed the Solar with a voice that echoed throughout the whole world, not to mention Matt's apartment. "For a purpose yet unknown to us. But you must travel to our world, find yourselves, travel your own paths and save us from certain peril. This is what They deign, and we are only their messengers."
"Dude, are we tripping right now? Matt, what did you put in our drinks?" The man shot a frown at his friend before going to speak with the Celestials.
"We're only human, there's no way-"
"SILENCE!" The other Planetar gave a shrill hawk shriek to accompany the Solar. "You will not deviate from you destiny, or face the consequences. Do you understand?"
"Yes." They answered in small and quiet voices until both the Celestials nodded.
"Best travels, my younglings. Make us, and Them, proud, and save the world before it's too late."
With that, the strange creatures slowly faded into non-existence, leaving behind 4 very frightened and pale people who literally had no idea what the hell was going on anymore.
David looked at the others, eyes widening as he realized that the others were beginning to vanish. He found a cold hand grasping his, and then another, realizing that the others were gripping his hands tightly.
He may have blushed when that Joshua was holding his hand. Well, maybe.
