Please note: Nothing belongs to me, it's all the BBC's
This was written as a competition entry at my school a few years back when we were looking for a road safety poem.
Her eyes were caring and a delicate blue,
Her looks soft and her personality too.
She was kind and gentle and loved by all,
Petite and sweet but as hard as a wall.
There for support and as an un-judging ear,
Always sharing a hug or wiping a tear.
There for others and able to talk,
Out for a coffee or just for a walk.
No one ever thought she'd not be there,
Giving everyone her love and her care.
She was a mother to all in need,
Not swallowed by pride or self-greed.
She was the kindest person you could meet,
Not a mean bone from her head to her feet.
A fantastic doctor and a wonderful friend,
Building a relationship that would never end.
Kind and caring and an amazing mother,
Never again will you find another.
But now a sadness filled the air,
All her friends were thrown in deep despair.
Maggie was at the end of her day,
Maybe now they wished there was a delay.
In front of her car a passer by ran,
She hit the breaks and the chaos began.
Her car was hit from the side,
She couldn't hold on as hard as she tried.
Her heart stopped beating after a time,
As I reach the end of my rhyme.
She died in her car in the middle of the road,
Maybe next time they'll remember the green cross code.
