You didn't tell your dad about John right away. You knew what he'd say, and you just didn't want to get into any arguments with him.
You were happy. And you really liked John.
You thought your mom might've realized that something was up; she'd given you a few glances at dinner the other night. But you were pretty sure she wouldn't let anything slip to Dad.
Especially since she knew there'd be nothing to worry about from you.
And you were enjoying this chance to be normal, to be happy, with John.
There weren't secrets with him … yet.
