The moon hung high tonight in the inky black sky, Sokka lay back on his sleeping bag, reaching his hands out to the moon. It shown with its ethereal glow, bathing the landscape in hues of blue and silver, no sound penetrated the almost calm atmosphere, leaving the only sound Sokka's soft breathing. The wind rustled the leaves in the trees, it almost sounded like Yue was breathing alongside him, drinking in the cool night air, and letting the beauty of the night wash over them like the tide the moon had control over, and still Sokka's heart ached. A pain so strong it felt like a dagger laced with poison, continuously staking him in the chest, never missing his heart. His heart, which belonged to a princess who had never truly had the chance to love him back, and still she made time for him every night. Peeking over the rolling hills and reaching out to him through the misty clouds that hung around her lithe form, enveloping him in a spiritual embrace blocking out some of his pain, but never his longing, even she had her limits.

Love was hard to come by in these times of fear and violence, love was only found in brothels and taverns, and it only lasted but a few minutes. However, that was not love, only a cold version which warmed the nights and left your heart blackened with guilt. Never did a night go by that he did not remember the sacrifice Yue had undergone, a sacrifice which had saved so many and healed so much. Sokka did not feel its healing affects though; his heart would forever bore the scar which had been inflicted that fateful night his beloved had been torn away. He'd felt her skin cool almost instantly as her life fled from her limp body, holding her in his arms had felt like holding a hollow clay jar, in which nothing could ever fill its vast emptiness.

He'd cried, only a few tears, but she had cradled his face in her hands, and brushed the crystal tears away. She had made no promises to him, but Sokka had cursed himself in failing yet again, letting go of something so precious, the world would never regain its balance. Staring up at the moon, his hands outstretched and straining to touch something he knew he could never feel ever again, his heart seemed to creak along with the effort, and finally it shattered. His body shook with barely controlled sobs, his body bending inwards like an infant as he cradled himself. Tears streaming down his face, a howl escaped his throat, echoing off into the night, it sounded lonely and tortured. He felt as though there was barbwire surrounding his heart, shooting pain shot upwards and consumed his body, making him feel broken beyond repair. Sokka stilled his movement, trying to end the pain his every move created, darting a look at the other sleeping bags, Sokka prayed no on had heard his little moment of weakness. His eyes traveled upwards, the reflection of the moon shinning in his watery blue eyes.

Princess Yue….

A whisper so soft, it hardly seemed like it could have come from his own mouth. He hugged himself tightly, breathing deeply, and slowly allowing his eyes to drift shut.

Don't leave me.

All I want right now

Is the time when we slept on the floor

You said right here right now

Is all I am living for

I got the velocity and all I need now is the mass

I just want you to ask

Can you take me, into days I never knew

R&R people, PLEASE! :3
