The man held the red rose to the air
Breathing deeply he began,
I wish that you knew I loved you,
That I could go back in time to tell.
We quarreled relentlessly,
And feuded forever,
But now I finally see the light.
You were the best of friend,
Though not to me,
You helped them through the thick and thin.
When you were hurt
By me or someone else
They picked you up after.
Growing up, I found my feelings grow stronger,
But you never would know.
You left school and married
Leaving me behind
Longing after you.
I've searched through everywhere,
The crowded streets,
To the empty countryside,
You hid from my sight.
But I've finally am able
To tell you the truth,
Though time has taken its leave
For you to be with me…
He dropped the rose on the dry grass,
And settled on his fate:
To be forever parted from his one love, even after death.
Nevertheless, before he left.
He glanced back,
And smiled at the grave.
