"Hinata-sama, it's time to wake up. You don't want to miss your transportation to Academy Island," a maid said gently. A head full of dark blue hair popped up from beneath the bed sheets.

"Alright I'm *yawn* up," a soft voice groggily replied. Hinata pulled the sheets from over her head and rubbed her eyes while yawning before leaving her bedroom and entering her bathroom. She turned the faucet on and splashed some water on her face before drying it off. Since her pale skin was naturally blemish-free, Hinata never had to worry about using facial wash.

She left her room and made her way towards the elevator since her room was on the second floor. After exiting, she headed towards the dining room where her father was. Hiashi Hyuga had long brown hair that was pulled away from his face and a perpetually stern look on his face.

"Good morning Otosan," Hinata said quietly as she sat down at the table.
"Good morning Hinata," Hiashi replied as he continued to read the newspaper. It was silent for a few minutes as the maids and butlers were serving breakfast.
"Are you ready for Duel Academy?" Hiashi asked while peering over his newspaper.

"Y-Yes," Hinata answered meekly as a maid placed her breakfast in front of her.

"Hinata, the other duelists will walk over you if you keep stuttering like that," Hiashi said sternly. "Now, I'm not telling you to go out and be a social butterfly, but at least make it clear that you have some sort of back bone and that no one walks over a Hyuga, especially the heiress."

"Yes Otosan," Hinata replied before starting on her breakfast. Hiashi nodded, satisfied with his daughter's appropriate response.

As they continued their meal, Hiashi looked over to Hinata and saw that she needed some encouragement. Hiashi sighed as encouragement was not his strong suit. While he wasn't extremely strict, he did have certain expectations.

"Hinata," Hiashi started, which made Hinata perk up.

"Go...Go and do your best...and make friends," Hiashi said at last.

A stunned look appeared on Hinata's face before a smile gradually made its way onto her face.

"Thank you Otosan. I will do my best," Hinata said while smiling. Hiashi nodded but was suddenly caught off guard by Hinata's surprise hug. Hiashi, not one to show a lot of affection, patted the top of his daughter's head in an awkward manner.

"Go get ready for Academy Island Hinata," Hiashi said. Nodding quickly, Hinata went and finished her breakfast before heading up the stairs where she was quickly attended to by her two maids.

"Are you ready for Duel Academy Hinata-sama?" Natsu, one of her personal maids, asked while brushing Hinata's dark blue hair. She was around twenty five with chin-length dark green hair and bangs. Like many of the maids, she wore a black floor-length kimono with a white apron covering the kimono. The other maid in the room, Yukiko, was busy laying out Hinata's uniform.

"Kind of," Hinata replied truthfully. "I'm somewhat nervous about meeting new people."

"I think you'll be fine Hinata-sama," Natsu assured Hinata as she was braiding Hinata's hair into a French braid.

"Besides, you might meet a cute boy out there," Yukiko chimed in before winking at Hinata. Hinata turned bright red while Natsu let out an exasperated sigh.

"Yukiko, the last thing we need is for Hinata-sama to faint before she leaves," Natsu scolded.

"Oh come on Natsu, loosen up already," Yukiko said before rolling her eyes. Yukiko was only a few years older than Hinata at nineteen with slightly tanned skin and jet black waist-length hair with a part down the middle. Unlike Natsu, who had a petite yet feminine build, Yukiko was several inches taller at 5'9 with a pleasantly plump hourglass figure that she had no problem showing off. Once Natsu was done with braiding Hinata's hair, Yukiko hurried Hinata into her dark green sailor fuku.

Once she was fully dressed, the two maids ushered Hinata out of her room and towards the elevator as two butlers appeared and brought her luggage out of her room. By the time Hinata arrived at her front door, Hiashi was already waiting by the limo that was going to take her to the location where she would be transported to Academy Island. Hinata stood nervously in front of Hiashi as the butlers placed her luggage into the waiting limo.

"Hinata," Hiashi started. "Duel Academy is a very prestigious school and only the best duelists get into the Academy. Make sure you leave your mark as the heiress to the Hyuga Conglomerate when you graduate. I expect nothing but top marks in all areas." Hinata nodded, knowing this is what her father expected out of her. As she turned away to get into the limo, Hinata felt a hand on top of her hand and looked up at Hiashi. Hiashi didn't say anything but simply nodded at her. Hinata smiled slightly at her father before getting into the waiting limousine. After watching her large house and father disappear from sight, Hinata let out a huge sigh as she slumped in the seats.

"Something the matter Hinata-sama?" Ko, the driver, asked while looking slightly concerned.

"Nothing really...it's just that now I'm really kind of nervous," Hinata admitted, her cheeks flushing slightly in the process.

"I wouldn't worry about it Hinata-sama," Ko reassured her. Feeling slightly better, Hinata then reached into her bag and took out her deck. While growing up, in order to ensure her success as the heiress to his company in all aspects, Hiashi hired a private duel tutor to teach Hinata about dueling. When she got older, Hiashi assembled most of the best and rarest cards for her.

A smile appeared on Hinata's face as she looked her favorite card, Dark Magician Girl. She loved her cards equally but Dark Magician Girl had a special place in her heart as it was the first card she ever played in a duel. And it was also the same card that gave her the power to win one of her first duels ever. To the pass the time, Hinata shuffled her deck a bit.

"Hinata-sama, we've arrived at the destination," Ko announced.

Lost in shuffling her deck, a startled Hinata looked up and out of the window. Indeed they were at the meeting place for Academy Island. There was a helicopter waiting there along with students getting into the copter.

"Glad I'm not the only one in school uniform," Hinata thought idly as all of the students wore their school school uniforms.

"Well Hinata-sama, this is it," Ko said after he unloaded her things out of the trunk. Hinata gave Ko a hug before walking over to the helicopter and stepped into it. As the helicopter rose into the air, Hinata waved to Ko as he got smaller. As the journey to Academy Island got underway, Hinata sat back in the seat. A bout of nervousness threatened to engulf her once more and she willed it go away.

"I can't let this get to me. I have to go out there and do my very best," Hinata thought. About thirty minutes into the trip, Hinata felt her eyes grow heavy and soon she fell asleep.

It was over an hour later that Hinata arose from her sleep in time to hear the pilot make an announcement over the pa system.

"Attention new Duel Academy students. If you look outside your window, you'll see that we are quickly approaching your new home, Duel Academy." Hinata, who just so happened to have a window seat, looked out and was shocked beyond belief.

"It's bigger than I thought. It's so beautiful," Hinata thought to herself. Fifteen minutes, the helicopter landed on the platform. After retrieving her luggage, Hinata and the rest of the female students were directed to head to the Blue Obelisk dorm, which was completely lavish and kind of looked like a castle. Most of the girls were impressed by the richness of the building but to Hinata, it didn't look any different from any of the townhomes her family owned.

"Oh my gosh! This place is uber amazing! I've never seen anything like this before!" a girl with ash blonde hair that was in a high ponytail and blue eyes exclaimed loudly. She then turned to Hinata, startling her slightly.

"What about you? Have you been in anything this fancy?" the girl inquired while getting up in Hinata's face unnecessarily.

"Uh...to be honest, it's not much different from any of the homes my family owns," Hinata answered while discreetly stepping away from the nosy blonde girl. A confused look appeared on the girl's face as she looked at Hinata a little bit longer, something Hinata was definitely not comfortable with. After a moment, a look of recognition appeared on the girl's face.

"Oh! No wonder you're not impressed with this. You're the Hyuga heiress, Hyuga-san," the girl replied. Hearing her words, the other girls turned and started looking at Hinata as whispers started floating around. A slight blush appeared on Hinata's face just then. It was at that moment that a woman of average height appeared by the stairs. She had fair skin with large pewter gray eyes, short red hair that had a longer piece falling in front of her face and large earrings.

"Hello girls. My name is Emi Ayukawa and I am the head of the Obelisk Blue dorm for the girls. I am also the gym teacher and the school nurse. It's a pleasure to welcome you young ladies to Academy Island. Now go ahead and get settled in your rooms for a bit and then head down to the auditorium for the school assembly. Also your school uniforms will be your rooms as well." Everyone nodded and started up the stairs. Moments later, Hinata arrived at her room and was pleasantly surprised. As expected, it was spacious and decorated nicely.

"At least we get our own rooms," Hinata thought as she sat her luggage in a corner before looking around for a bit. She then noticed the Academy-issued duel disk sitting on her desk. Shrugging, Hinata proceeded to get into her new wardrobe. Once she was finished, she looked at herself in the mirror.

"The skirt is a bit short," Hinata muttered to herself as she tugged on it a bit. "And the sleeveless jacket is a bit snug as well in certain areas." Along with the Obelisk Blue Uniform, Hinata paired it with white thigh-high socks. Hinata tugged on the top of her turtleneck as her cheeks turned pink slightly. Realizing she had no time to waste, Hinata left her room and headed down the hallway. On the way to the stairs, she met up with the same blonde girl from before.

"Oh hey, your room is only three doors down, cool," the bubbly girl said before smiling. "I'm Ino Yamanaka."

"I'm Hinata Hyuga," Hinata replied nervously. "But you already knew that." Ino giggled before throwing an arm around Hinata's shoulder.

"You're funny Hina-chan. Can I call you Hina?" Ino asked.

"S-Sure I don't mind," Hinata responded meekly. About thirty minutes later, Hinata, Ino, and the five other Obelisk blue female students all arrived in the auditorium along with the other first year students from Slifer Red and Ra Yellow. Hinata noticed that the total number of new students was around fifty.

"Oh my god this is so exciting," Ino said quietly, though her excitement was seeping through. "Not to mention, there's a lot of cute boys here." Hinata turned red as she thought back to what Yukiko told her. The auditorium then went quiet as the screen flickered on, revealing the face of a smiling man with a bald head, hazel eyes, and a beard, who introduced himself as Chancellor Samejima. After ten minutes or so, the students were released from the auditorium.

"That was the most boring assembly ever," Ino complained as she and Hinata walked out of the auditorium.

"Well I hope you listened Ino-san," Hinata remarked while smiling.

"Pfft. Of course I listened to him. I'm just saying he could've made it a bit livelier," Ino griped while pulling on her ponytail. Hinata, who was busy giggling at Ino, wasn't watching where she was walking and slammed into a taller and more heavier body. The force caused Hinata to fall right on her butt, her deck scattering to the floor in the process.

"Ow," Hinata muttered as she rubbed her sore bottom. "I guess that's what I get for not paying attention."

"I think we're both at fault here," an unfamiliar male voice said. Hinata looked up to see a very tall older boy standing over her with a serious look on his face. He had shoulder-length teal blue hair and matching blue eyes. He wore the Obelisk Blue males' coat that was similar to the first years only with the colors inverted and the blue being a lighter shade, signalling his position as an upperclassman.

"Here, let me help you," the boy said in a polite but slightly monotone voice. Hinata nodded slowly, all the while her face going from pink to a light shade of red. Ino was busy swooning on the side as well.

"Here, I'll help you with your cards," an unknown female voice and Hinata realized that a girl was with him. She had long dark blonde hair that spiked out towards the end and hazel eyes.

"Oh, t-thank you," Hinata stumbled as she was helped to her feet.

"Hey...these are some really good cards," the girl commented. "Is that...Dark Magician Girl?"

"Hmph...All of these cards are rare and powerful. As to be expected from the heiress of the Hyuga Conglomerate." A surprised look appeared on Hinata's face at that moment.

"Don't be surprised. Your father owns one of the largest companies in Japan and from what I hear, you're no slacker either," the boy said.

"I'm Asuka Tenjoin and this is Ryo Marufuji, the top student in Obelisk Blue and Duel Academy," Asuka said. A flustered look appeared on Hinata's face as she immediately bowed.

"I-I'm sorry for running into you Marufuji-senpai," Hinata stuttered out. Ino and Asuka giggled while Ryo raised an eyebrow.

"It's not a problem. As I said, we're both at fault here. Also you can drop the honorific, it makes me feel old," Ryo said in a flat tone.

"Eh..Marufuji-san?" Hinata responded unsurely.

"Close enough," Ryo said before sighing. After saying goodbye to Asuka and Ryo, the two girls decided to explore the campus.

"Oh my god. Like Marufuji-san is so hot, he's like the hottest hottie of all time," Ino gushed. "I wonder if Asuka-san is his girlfriend."

"I don't think so," Hinata said before thinking on it. "She looks to be the same age as us, plus she was with us at Obelisk Blue when Ayukawa-sensei introduced herself."

"But if she's a first year student, how is she so familiar with Marufuji-san who is clearly a third year?" Ino asked before rolling her eyes and shaking her head. "Never mind, it's hurting my brain just thinking about it." After several moments of walking, Ino and Hinata found themselves at the Ra Yellow dorm building.

"This is the dorm? I'm not impressed," Ino said while crossing her arms over her chest.

"Ino-san, remember that this school is built on a hierarchy system," Hinata said. "Obelisk Blue is the top rank, Ra Yellow is middle."

"And Slifer Red is for the students that barely made it in by the skin of their teeth," Ino said bluntly. A nervous laugh escaped Hinata's lips.

"I wouldn't have put it like that but essentially yes," Hinata said. As they continued, Hinata felt a shoulder brush past her own. At that moment, Hinata felt a pleasant feeling pass through her body. A dazed look appeared on her face.

"What's this feeling? It feels...great. I feel like I'm on cloud nine," Hinata thought. She was quickly brought out of her delusion when she heard Ino screeching.

"Hey there buddy! Watch where ya going!" Ino yelled. Hinata didn't see the who the person was, only that it was a guy from Slifer red with brown hair.

"Sorry!" the unknown guy yelled said as he continued running.

"Egh, stupid Slifer Red," Ino muttered.

"Maybe we should head back to our area," Hinata said. "I think out classes will be starting soon."

"You're right. Let's go," Ino said. The rest of the day went by fast and soon it was nighttime. After dinner, Hinata decided to head to the baths. As soon as she stepped into the baths, Hinata let out a sigh of relief.

"This water is amazing. It's as good as the one in the house," Hinata thought. Today's events wore her out and she just wanted to get into her bed. After she was done with the baths, Hinata made her way back into her room and proceeded to get into her nightwear, which was a simple lavender tank top and lavender and white striped pajama shorts.

"Today wasn't all that bad," Hinata said to herself as she laid in her bed, her eyes closed briefly.

"I'm glad that you enjoyed it Hinata-sama."

"Thank you," Hinata responded automatically before realizing that she was the only person in her room.

"W-Who said that?!" Hinata asked loudly as she sat up.

"Over here silly. Look towards your deck," the unknown female voice said. Hinata slowly turned her head to the right and her eyes bulged out in a comical manner. Standing in the corner was her favorite card.

"D-Dark Magician Girl?!" Hinata stuttered.

"In the flesh," Dark Magician Girl replied while grinning. "Or should I say 'In the Spirit'?" Due to her rambling, Dark Magician Girl was not aware that Hinata had fainted. At that point, Dark Magician appeared.

"Mana," Mahad said while looking slightly annoyed.

"Yes Master?" Mana answered innocently. Mahad jerked his thumb towards an unconscious Hinata.

"Eh hehehe. Oops?" was Mana's only answer.
"You should've waited until the next the day," Mahad griped.

"I know but I was so excited I couldn't contain myself," Mana said while pouting slightly. While Mahad was scolding Mana, Hinata had arisen from unconsciousness.

"That's really weird. I dreamt that Dark Magician Girl was standing by my desk," Hinata thought as she sat up, only to see Dark Magician Girl getting scolded by...Dark Magician himself.

"W-What's going on?" Hinata squeaked, causing the two spirits to look up at her. "..And how come I can see you two?"

"Hinata-sama," Mana cooed as she tried to make her way over to Hinata but Mahad held her back.

"She's scared as it is. Don't make it worse," Mahad said to her before turning to Hinata. "Hinata-sama, we're not entirely sure how it happened but it seems that we, and assuming the rest of the spirits are able to, are able to now communicate with you." A brief moment of silence ensued as Hinata continued to stare at the two magicians with her mouth open.

"Eh..do you think Hinata-sama is broken?" Mana whispered. Hinata fainted once more, to their chagrin.

"Looks like this will take some time," Mahad said as Mana started panicking over her once-more unconscious mistress.

SN: I'll probably pair Ino with Daichi (Bastion). Also I used their Japanese names to familiarize myself with using honorifics and certain terms.

Jaden-Judai; Alexis-Asuka; Syrus-Sho; Bastion-Daichi; Zane-Ryo; Chazz-Jun etc.
